A Prayer for Deliverance from Burdens and Oppression

Heavenly Father,

In the quiet of this moment, I come before You with a heart that seeks understanding and liberation from the burdens of this world. I reflect on the words of Exodus 1:11 from the King James Version, "Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses." Lord, these words echo through the ages, reminding us of the oppression faced by Your people in Egypt. They remind me of the tribulations that many continue to endure today.

O God, as I contemplate the heavy weights that some bear, I think of those who like the Israelites have been placed under the yoke of taskmasters—those who govern them unjustly and impose unbearable burdens. Help us remember that the treasure cities of Pithom and Raamses, built by the Israelites, symbolize the fruits of their labor under bondage, borrowed for the glory of a taskmaster. May we not confine our lives to building earthly treasures that bear no true value. Instead, grant us the vision to build Your kingdom here on Earth—a kingdom where love, equality, and justice reign.

Equip us, Lord, to stand up against injustice. Fill us with Your love, that we may reach out to the oppressed and empower them. Teach us to advocate for those whose voices have been silenced. Let Your light shine through us, illuminating the dark corners of despair and hopelessness, proving that they can be filled with Your promise of freedom.

I thank You, God, for the assurance that no burden is too great for You to bear. May those who feel overwhelmed find peace in trusting You. Through the trials they endure, may they be drawn closer to You, finding strength and shelter in Your presence.

But the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and spread; so the Egyptians came to dread the Israelites and worked them ruthlessly. They made their lives bitter with harsh labor in brick and mortar and with all kinds of work in the fields; in all their harsh labor the Egyptians worked them ruthlessly. The king of Egypt said to the Hebrew midwives, whose names were Shiphrah and Puah, “When you are helping the Hebrew women during childbirth on the delivery stool, if you see that the baby is a boy, kill him; but if it is a girl, let her live.” The midwives, however, feared God and did not do what the king of Egypt had told them to do; they let the boys live. Then the king of Egypt summoned the midwives and asked them, “Why have you done this? Why have you let the boys live?” The midwives answered Pharaoh, “Hebrew women are not like Egyptian women; they are vigorous and give birth before the midwives arrive.” So God was kind to the midwives and the people increased and became even more numerous. And because the midwives feared God, he gave them families of their own. Then Pharaoh gave this order to all his people: “Every Hebrew boy that is born you must throw into the Nile, but let every girl live.”" - Exodus 1:11-22
