A Prayer for Generosity and Wisdom Inspired by Solomon
"And king Solomon gave unto the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatsoever she asked, beside that which Solomon gave her of his royal bounty. So she turned and went to her own country, she and her servants." - 1 Kings 10:13

Heavenly Father,
As I reflect on the great wisdom of Solomon, as recounted in 1 Kings 10:13, I come before You with a heart filled with gratitude and a desire to emulate the qualities that You bestowed upon this great king. Your Word tells us that, "And king Solomon gave unto the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatsoever she asked, beside that which Solomon gave her of his royal bounty. So she turned and went to her own country, she and her servants." (1 Kings 10:13 KJV). Lord, I pause for a moment to absorb the depth of this passage and to recognize the beauty of true generosity and effective leadership.
Father, I thank You for the example of King Solomon, who, rather than simply fulfilling the requests of the Queen of Sheba, went above and beyond to bless her with his royal bounty. This act of generosity reflects Your character, for You too are a God who gives abundantly. I pray that I may learn from Solomon’s heart to serve others selflessly and wholeheartedly. Teach me, O God, how to give generously, not out of obligation, but from a spirit of love and compassion. Help me to recognize the needs of those around me and to respond with a willing heart.
Lord, let my hands be instruments of Your grace, and may my heart be open to the requests of others, both big and small. I ask for the wisdom that Solomon possessed, a wisdom that guided him to discern thoughts and needs even before they were spoken. May I be attentive and sensitive to the silent pleas of others, understanding that sometimes our greatest blessings come from meeting needs that are not verbalized.
As I strive for this spirit of generosity, I also seek a heart of humility. Keep me from pride and self-importance, Lord, that I may never feel that I give out of my own sufficiency but rather from the abundance that You have so richly provided in my life. When I share with others, remind me that it is all sourced from You, the ultimate giver. Help me to be a steward of what You have entrusted to me and to distribute it wisely, be it in resources, time, or love.
Father, I also think of the Queen of Sheba, who traveled great distances to seek wisdom. I am reminded of her desire to seek understanding, and I pray that we too may seek after knowledge and wisdom in our daily lives. Just as she recognized Solomon’s wisdom, I pray that those around us may see Your wisdom reflected in our words and actions. Empower us to be vessels of knowledge, truth, and light in a world that often lacks direction.
Lord, I ask that You cultivate within me a heart that desires not only to receive but to give — graciously, fully, and without expectation. Let me be a vehicle of Your love, bringing joy to those who encounter me. Just as the Queen returned to her land enriched in spirit and filled with satisfaction, may those I encounter feel the warmth of Your presence through my generosity and kindness.
As I conclude this prayer, I ask for Your continued guidance. Let the legacy of King Solomon inspire my walk with You, particularly in the ways I steward the resources and wisdom You have blessed me with. May I always look for opportunities to bless others and may my life testimony echo the riches of Your generosity.
In Your precious name, I pray, Amen.
