O Lord, our Heavenly Father,

We come before Your majestic throne this day with hearts that are humbled and souls that are yearning for Your presence and guidance. As we reflect on the words of 1 Samuel 28:23, we see a vivid picture of a struggle within a soul, a refusal to partake of nourishment, a deliberate choice weighed down by fear and despair.

Father, just as Saul in this passage, we find ourselves in moments where we resist the very things that would sustain us—both physically and spiritually. He said, "I will not eat." This refusal often mirrors our hearts, when we, too, feel overwhelmed by the burdens of life, the weight of our own decisions, or the trials that besiege us. Help us, Lord, when we reach a point of exhaustion and despair, where we feel like giving up and turning away from what is good for us.

Lord, we recognize that in our darkest moments, there is often a resistance within us—the same resistance that restrained Saul from the nourishment he desperately needed. Guide us to understand that when our spirit is weary, we may need the support of those around us. As Saul's servants and the woman compelled him, give us the wisdom to lean on the voices of our friends, family, and community, especially in our lowest times. Allow us to be open to their encouragement, to hear their words that aim to lift us, potential bearers of Your grace sent to guide us back to the path of restoration.

Awaken in us the humility to accept help when we need it most, to realize we are not meant to carry our burdens alone. O Lord, may we hear the gentle urgency in those who care for us; may we heed their voices, as they compel us to rise, to eat, to be nourished in body and spirit. Teach us the value of vulnerability, knowing that in our weakness, Your strength is made perfect.

Heavenly Father, we pray for those who are similarly struggling, somehow trapped in their own internal battles, saying ’I will not eat’ when in fact they need Your strength more than ever. We intercede for those who refuse to partake of joy, hope, and the blessings You offer, consumed instead by thoughts that weigh them down. Let Your light shine through the clouds that dim their spirits. May they find a multitude of voices that encourage them to stand once more, to rise from the earth and sit upon a better path filled with Your love and grace.

As Saul arose, we too pray for the strength to rise above our circumstances. Encourage each one of us to seek the bed of Your promises, Lord. May we find rest in You, comforted in knowing that You are always by our side, ready to lift our spirits from despondency to hope.

Lord, grant us the courage to face our demons. Let us not be like Saul, who succumbed to despair; instead, inspire us to overcome hesitation with action, to rise when we feel the urge to fall. Fill our hearts with the abundant life that Jesus promises—life that is abundant and fulfilling, grounded in Your love, provision, and sustenance.

We surrender our worries, fears, and doubts into Your capable hands, trusting in Your divine orchestration of our lives. Let us pray fervently for grace; for we know Your sufficiency is all we truly need.

By faith, we thank You for the strength to rise today, for the preparation of the feast You set before us, and for the voices that compel us toward healing and restoration. In Jesus’ most holy name, we pray.
