O Lord God, Creator of the heavens and the earth, we come before You esteeming Your holiness and the truth of Your Word. We approach Your throne of grace with heavy hearts, mindful of the warnings You have placed within the Scriptures, particularly in 2 Chronicles 18:22, where it is declared, "Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil against thee." These words echo through the pages of history, reminding us that the influence of the spirit of deception can lead even the most faithful astray.

Lord, we acknowledge that there are times when our hearts are easily led by our desires, and our ears may be drawn to voices that sound pleasing but diverge from Your truth. We seek Your wisdom and guidance in a world that often champions falsehood over righteousness. We ask that You open our eyes to see clearly the path of truth, and our ears to hear the whisper of Your Holy Spirit above the clamor of mere human counsel.

Heavenly Father, we recognize the danger of misguided prophets and those who prophesy in their own strength rather than by Your Spirit. Just as Jehoshaphat was led to inquire after Your will amidst the words of Ahab’s prophets, we too desire to discern who truly speaks on Your behalf and who is moved by a lying spirit. Father, may we be like the Bereans, searching the Scriptures daily to verify the words we hear. Help us to measure everything against the standard of Your Word, which is eternal and unchanging.

We pray for a protective shield around our hearts and minds, that we may not succumb to deception in any form. Guard us against the lies that masquerade as truth, for we know that the enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). We trust that Your light can and will expose the falsehoods that seek to entrap us.

In the face of conflicting messages, we ask for the gift of discernment—an ability to distinguish between the true voice of the Lord and the cacophony of confusion that surrounds us. Instill in us a spirit of discernment that is anchored in humility and wisdom, allowing us to navigate through lies and embrace Your absolute truth. Instill in us a heart that seeks after You, desiring above all things to glorify Your name.

We pray for the church and for leaders and ministers who have been called to speak Your truth into the lives of others. Protect them from wearing the mantle of prophetic utterance while being influenced by the spirits of falsehood. May they seek Your face diligently and lead their congregations with integrity and a commitment to the truth of Your Word. May they be empowered by Your Spirit to speak boldly against the deceptions that seek to infiltrate the hearts of the faithful.

Lord, let every lying spirit be exposed and silenced in our midst. We command every false prophecy and assumption that is contrary to Your will to fall to the ground, ineffective and irrelevant. Grant us courage to confront those that deceive and a heart of compassion that desires their redemption. Help us to speak the truth in love, bringing forth clarity and reconciliation wherever confusion reigns.

We ask for Your mercy on those who have been misled or deceived by these lying spirits—bring them back to Your truth, Lord. Restore hope in their hearts and clarity to their minds as they encounter You afresh. We ask that every heart turned aside by deception would ultimately find the way back to Your light, where they can experience Your love, healing, and restoration.

Thank You, Lord, for being the final authority in our lives. We cling to Your promises, trusting that You will indeed guide us into all truth (John 16:13). We pray in Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
