Heavenly Father,

As we come before You in humble supplication today, we are reminded of the words of Scripture in 2 Samuel 16:20, which says, "Then said Absalom to Ahithophel, Give counsel among you what we shall do." In this moment, I echo the sentiment of Absalom, though crafted through the wisdom of Your Word and not the intentions borne of his rebellion. Lord, we seek Your divine counsel and guidance in our lives, for You are the ultimate source of wisdom and understanding.

Father, You know our hearts—and You know the struggles we face when confronted with decisions that seem overwhelming. It is easy to lose sight of what is right and true amidst the clamor of our own thoughts and the opinions of others. Just as Absalom sought counsel, we seek Your guidance above all else. Help us to listen attentively to the wise recommendations that come through prayer, through the Bible, and through godly counsel from those whom we trust.

Gracious God, we recognize that the choices we make not only affect our lives but also the lives of those around us. We often find ourselves at a crucial crossroads—much like Absalom—where the directions we choose can lead to either righteousness or ruin. We do not want our own fleshly desires to dictate our actions, but rather, we desire to bring glory to Your name in every decision we make.

In our quest for guidance, we ask that You inspire us to seek the power of community—the counsel of those who love You and are seasoned in faith. Remind us that wisdom is often found in the multitude of counselors (Proverbs 15:22). May our hearts remain open to hear the voices of those whom You have placed in our lives to guide us. Help us discern which counsel aligns with Your will and which is rooted in the fleeting thoughts of man.

Lord, we pray that Your Holy Spirit will illuminate our path. When we are lost or confused about which way to go, let Your light shine, guiding our feet away from darkness and leading us towards Your truth. Grant us clarity amidst chaos, peace amidst uncertainty, and resolve amidst hesitation. May we whisper to ourselves, "What would the Lord have me do?"—and may we listen intently for Your answer.

Heavenly Father, in the pursuit of understanding Your will, may we also be reminded to approach every decision with a heart of submission and reverence to You. We recognize that Absalom’s decision, although prompted by the desire for counsel, led to strife and chaos, moving away from the king who is after Your own heart. Help us to be mindful of the ripple effects of our choices, knowing that they can bless or curse, build or destroy.

As we grapple with specific situations in our lives, may we lay them down before You now, asking for clear direction and insight. Fill us with quiet confidence as we await Your response, and stir up in us the courage to act in accordance with Your will even when it is difficult or counter-cultural.

And above all, may our hearts be aligned with Yours, seeking not our glory but Yours. May we honor You in everything we do, acknowledging that You are sovereign over all, and that Your plans for us are good and perfect.

We thank You, Lord, for Your everlasting presence and for being our counselor, our guide, and our King. We lean on You, trusting that You will lead us in paths of righteousness for Your name’s sake. In the name of Jesus, the true and mighty King, we pray.
