A Prayer for Divine Wisdom and Deliverance
"Then the woman went unto all the people in her wisdom. And they cut off the head of Sheba the son of Bichri, and cast it out to Joab. And he blew a trumpet, and they retired from the city, every man to his tent. And Joab returned to Jerusalem unto the king." - 2 Samuel 20:22

O Sovereign Lord, Creator of heaven and earth, I come before You today, humbled by the profound truths found within Your Word. I reflect on the journey of the woman in 2 Samuel 20:22, who, in her wisdom, led a decisive action that restored peace and order among the people of Israel. "Then the woman went unto all the people in her wisdom. And they cut off the head of Sheba the son of Bichri, and cast it out to Joab. And he blew a trumpet, and they retired from the city, every man to his tent. And Joab returned to Jerusalem unto the king." How remarkable is the power of wisdom!
Heavenly Father, I pray for the wisdom that this woman possessed—a wisdom that is rooted in understanding and guided by Your Holy Spirit. In a world filled with conflict, division, and strife, grant me the insight to observe circumstances with a discerning heart. Like the woman, may I recognize the moments that call for decisive action, and may I lead with courage and integrity.
Lord, just as she united the people to resolve their discord, I ask for the ability to reconcile differences in my own life and community. Help me to be a vessel of Your peace, instilling calm in the chaos and encouraging harmony amongst those who are at odds. Fill me with Your love so that I may approach every situation with grace, patience, and an unwavering commitment to justice and righteousness.
God of Justice, I beseech You to uproot disunity and discord that plague our families, workplaces, and communities. Where there are tensions and divisions, let your light shine through me to bring reconciliation and hope. Just as Sheba posed a threat to the well-being of the city, reveal to me and others the threats and challenges we face today. Help us to address conflicts wisely and effectively, so we may act decisively for the greater good.
As Joab returned to Jerusalem, may I also find a way back to Your presence after conflicts are resolved; may my heart be one that seeks to dwell in peace after the battle has been won. Let every conflict I engage in lead me closer to You, Lord, rather than further from Your grace. Teach me to blow the trumpet of victory when peace is achieved, reminding myself and others of Your faithfulness in the midst of trials.
King of Kings, Your Word tells us that ‘Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom, and with all thy getting get understanding’ (Proverbs 4:7). May I pursue wisdom diligently. Open my eyes to the sources of wisdom You have provided: Your Scriptures, wise counsel from mentors, and the gentle promptings of the Holy Spirit. Allow me to lean not on my own understanding but to acknowledge You in all my ways so that You may direct my paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).
In moments where I doubt my capability to lead or make decisions that benefit those around me, remind me of Your promise that ‘If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him’ (James 1:5). Lord, let me not hesitate to seek Your guidance in times of uncertainty. Let it be my heart’s desire to reflect Your wisdom in every action, every choice, and every conversation.
As I offer this prayer, I surrender all my uncertainties and anxieties to You, knowing that You are in control. Help me align my life with Your Divine Will, and may I contribute to a life of peace, unity, and goodwill among those around me. Let the echoes of praise and gratitude tonight as I retire to my own tent, knowing that You have heard my cry and will grant the wisdom I seek.
In Jesus’ mighty name, I pray. Amen.
