Prayer of Dominion and Preservation
"¶ And he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom put he garrisons, and all they of Edom became David's servants. And the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went." - 2 Samuel 8:14

O Sovereign Lord, Almighty God, as I come before You today, I stand in reverence of your majesty and power. Your Word reminds me in 2 Samuel 8:14, "And he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom put he garrisons, and all they of Edom became David's servants. And the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went." This passage resonates deeply within me, revealing not only Your strength to establish order and authority but also how beautifully You preserve those who walk in obedience to Your commands.
Lord, I humbly seek your presence, desiring to understand the depth of Your grace in my life. Just as David established garrisons in Edom, securing territories and places that were initially hostile, I ask that You give me the wisdom and courage to establish garrisons of faith in my life. Help me to secure my mind against doubts, my heart against fears, and my spirit against the encroachments of despair. Allow me to build up strongholds of faith and resilience, that I may stand firm against the challenges that life presents. May every garrison I establish be a fortress of Your truth, a stronghold of encouragement, and a place of refuge where Your spirit dwells.
Father, I recognize that it was through Your mighty hand that David was preserved in all his endeavors. I marvel at how you protected him so that he could accomplish the plans you had laid out for him. I call upon that same divine protection over my life now. Preserve my heart, Lord, so that it may remain steadfast and unshakeable through trials. Shield my dreams and aspirations from the adversities that seek to deter me. I plead for the preservation of my purpose, that I may fulfill the calling you have placed upon me with the confidence that, as you preserved David, you will also preserve me.
O Lord, as I reflect on the unity that David achieved over Edom, I see the importance of collective strength among your people. May we learn to support one another, recognizing that we are stronger together as a body of Christ. Teach us to build our own garrisons, ensuring that we do not stand alone against the trials of life but that we hold each other up in prayer and encouragement. Let unity reign in our communities, bringing about a spirit of servanthood that is pleasing to you.
I pray, dear God, for an infusion of Your strength and wisdom as I navigate the tumultuous waters of life. Cover me with Your spirit of peace, allowing me to remain calm amidst the storms. Help me to understand that true service comes with humility and a readiness to see others uplifted. Just as the Edomites became David's servants, may I serve those around me with a heart full of love and selflessness.
In moments of doubt, Lord, remind me of Your faithfulness as demonstrated throughout the scriptures. Remind me of David's bravery and his deep trust in You. Empower me like David to face my giants, and to humble myself before You, knowing that your preservation will carry me through every challenge.
I place my life, my desires, and my ambitions into Your hands. May I find deep solace in your promise to preserve me, just as you did David. And in every venture, may Your glory shine through me. I declare that Your favor rests upon my life, guiding me in wisdom and truth, as I seek to honor You in all I say and do.
In the holy and precious name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
