A Prayer for Justice and Divine Retribution
"Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works:" - 2 Timothy 4:14

Heavenly Father,
As I come before Your holy throne today, I bring the words of 2 Timothy 4:14 into my heart and mind. In this verse, Paul reminds us of the reality of evil acts committed by men, exemplified by Alexander the coppersmith, who did him much harm. Lord, I acknowledge that in our lives, we encounter those who may seek to undermine us, betray us, or even actively work against us. I come to you now, asking for justice, understanding, and peace in the face of such adversity.
O Lord, You are the just Judge, the One who sees all and knows the depths of our hearts. It is with humility that I ask You to consider the wrongs that have been done unto me and the traumas I may have faced due to the actions of others. Just as Paul knew of the malevolence directed toward him, I recognize moments in my own life where individuals have not only spoken ill of me but have schemed against me. I lift these burdens to you, Lord, for You are the only One who can provide true relief and restitution.
Father, I am reminded that vengeance is not mine to claim but Yours alone. Help me to relinquish any desire I may have to seek revenge or harbor resentment against those who have wronged me. I know that holding onto bitterness only hinders my spirit and keeps me from experiencing the fullness of Your love and grace. Teach me, Lord, to forgive those who hurt me, just as You forgive my sins and shortcomings.
In this moment, I also pray for the individuals who have caused pain in my life. Just as Paul asked that You reward Alexander according to his works, I put them before You. You understand their actions, motivations, and the root of their intentions. I ask that You may illuminate their hearts and minds, guiding them toward repentance and redemption. For it is in understanding our wrongs that we can find true freedom, and I pray that they may come to know You in a transformative way.
Help me also to recognize the lessons in adversity, Lord. You tell us in Your Word that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). Let my experiences of pain and betrayal drive me closer to You. Transform my wounds into wisdom, helping me to become a better steward of Your love and grace. May my trials serve not to embitter me but to strengthen my faith and reliance on You, O God.
Additionally, surround me with Your protection, Lord. Help me to discern the influences and intentions of those around me. Grant me the wisdom to navigate relationships with a heart that seeks Your will and honor. May I be a beacon of Your light, standing firm against those who wish to do harm, yet always holding onto compassion and extending grace, reflective of Your character.
As I end this prayer, I commit every grievance to You. I trust that You, in Your divine justice, will address every act of evil done against me and others. I place my faith in Your plan, knowing that You are in control. In Your time, You will make all things right. I thank You for Your unwavering love, and I lean into Your strength to walk through this life with integrity and peace.
In Jesus’ name, I pray,
Amen.
