"And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; ( because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them." - Acts 18:2

Heavenly Father,

We come before You today with hearts full of gratitude and reverence, acknowledging Your sovereignty over our lives and the history that shapes them. As we reflect on the words from Acts 18:2, where it says, "And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them," we pause to consider the significance of this moment in early Church history and the divine orchestration of relationships among Your people.

Lord, we thank You for the testament of Aquila and Priscilla—model servants in Your kingdom who, though faced with the adversity of exile from their homeland, sought refuge and purpose in the fellowship of believers. Just as You directed them to Paul, we pray that we too would be sensitive to Your leading in our lives, that we may find and embrace those connections that You have ordained for us—those divine appointments that lead to spiritual growth, mutual support, and the spread of the Gospel.

Help us, dear Lord, to recognize that our circumstances, no matter how challenging, may serve a greater purpose in Your grand design. We remember the trials of Aquila and Priscilla, who, despite being forced from Rome, did not retreat into despair but instead embarked on a mission to advance Your Kingdom. In our moments of uncertainty and trial, grant us the courage to seek out community and to extend our hands in friendship and service to those around us, just like they did.

We pray for all who are displaced, for those who feel isolated or marginalized, whether by circumstances beyond their control or by the choices they’ve made. May they find hope and connection through the body of believers, as Aquila and Priscilla found in Paul. Remind us, Lord, that we are called to be the warmth and embrace of Christ to others, uplifting each other in prayer and action.

God of unity, we ask that You bless the relationships in our lives—those that resemble the partnership of Aquila and Priscilla, who worked side by side, both in marriage and in ministry. Teach us the value of teamwork in our spiritual endeavors. May husbands and wives, friends and coworkers, siblings and church members become partners in spreading Your love and truth. May we be each other’s supporters and encouragers, recognizing that together we are stronger in our pursuit of holiness and the Great Commission.

Lord, instill in us a desire to connect with others as Aquila and Priscilla connected with Paul, embodying love, hospitality, and service. Help us to open our homes and hearts to those who need shelter and support and to share our resources—be it time, talents, or treasure—so that Your work may flourish in our communities. Teach us to be a people of action, demonstrating our faith through our deeds, just as Aquila and Priscilla did through their unwavering commitment to Your cause.

As we navigate the challenges of our time, we bring to You our fears and hesitations. We offer them at Your feet, trusting that You have a plan. Let us not shy away from being agents of change and hope even in turbulent times. Instead, give us the strength to rise up and to be beacons of Your light, just as Aquila and Priscilla became for the early Church.

Dear Lord, we close this prayer with a humble heart, asking for Your continued guidance and grace in our lives. May we honor You through our relationships and our work, just as Aquila and Priscilla honored You in theirs.

In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
