A Prayer for Purpose in Our Craft
"Whom he called together with the workmen of like occupation, and said, Sirs, ye know that by this craft we have our wealth." - Acts 19:25

Acts 19:25 - "Whom he called together with the workmen of like occupation, and said, Sirs, ye know that by this craft we have our wealth."
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today with hearts full of gratitude, seeking Your presence in our lives and the work that we do. We turn our thoughts to the verse in Acts 19:25, where the craftsmen gathered and acknowledged that their wealth came from their labor. "Whom he called together with the workmen of like occupation, and said, Sirs, ye know that by this craft we have our wealth." In this moment, we are reminded that what we do, our crafts and our occupations, are not merely for our gain but in service to You and Your creation.
Lord, we recognize that You are the ultimate author of our skills and talents. We thank You for the abilities and passions You have placed within us, which allow us to create and contribute to the world around us. Help us to see our work not merely as a source of income but as a calling—a way to reflect Your glory. May our hands be instruments of Your love, and may our crafts serve as a testimony to the talents You instilled within us.
As we gather in our workplaces, whether at a desk, in a workshop, or on a construction site, help us to remember that each task we complete is part of a larger purpose. Let us find joy in our labor, knowing that every small detail brings us closer to a finished product that can bless others. Teach us to approach our crafts with diligence and devotion, encouraging one another as the workmen did. Let us live out Your command to work as unto You, wholeheartedly, knowing that our worth and wealth come from God alone.
Father, in a world that often prioritizes wealth and status over character and integrity, we pray that we may strive to be workers of integrity. Help us not to fall into the trap of measuring our success only by the material possessions or status we attain. Instead, remind us of the true wealth that comes from purpose, community, and love. Inspire us to shift our focus from self-serving ambition to a desire to uplift, empower, and serve those around us. May our crafts lead to the growth and enrichment of our communities, as we work together for the common good.
We also ask for Your guidance when challenges arise in our crafts. Give us strength in adversity, wisdom in decisions, and creativity in problem-solving. When frustration looms or burnout threatens, remind us to lean on You for renewed energy and insight. Help us to encourage one another in our struggles and celebrate victories, big and small.
Lord, as the craftsmen in Acts stood together in recognition of their craft, may we also stand united with our peers in our respective fields. Help us to build networks of support and collaboration, where we can share ideas, foster innovation, and learn from one another. Instill in our hearts a spirit of generosity, where we desire to help others succeed, even as we pursue our ambitions.
Finally, help us to keep a heart full of gratitude and contentment in our crafts. May we release envy and competition, focusing instead on the beauty of each person’s unique contributions to the tapestry of life. Remind us that the wealth of our lives is not solely in what we possess but in how we use what we have for Your Kingdom.
We pray these things with full faith in Your goodness and grace, remembering always that our worth is found in You. May our crafts reflect Your love and light into the world.
In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
