A Prayer for Righteous Living and Divine Grace
"Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the Lord, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken. Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the Lord God of hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph." - Amos 5:14-15

O Sovereign Lord, the God of hosts, I come before You today with a humble heart, grateful for Your mercy and unfailing love. I stand in awe of Your greatness, recognizing that You alone are the source of all goodness and righteousness. As I reflect on the words of Amos 5:14-15, I am reminded of the charge that You have given to us: "Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the Lord, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken. Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the Lord God of hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph."
Lord, I implore You to instill in my heart a burning desire to seek after what is good in life and to shun the paths of evil. Help me to discern between righteousness and wickedness, to recognize the influence of the world that often draws me away from Your truth. May my actions, my thoughts, and my words reflect a steadfast commitment to Your ways, so that I may not only live a life that is pleasing to You but also be a light to those around me.
In a society where evil often masquerades as good, I pray for the wisdom to navigate these complexities. I long to hate the evil that so easily ensnares us, to reject the temptations that beckon us towards darkness and despair. Lord, give me strength. Guard my heart and mind against the whispers of deceit that seek to undermine my resolve. Help me to stand firm in my faith, grounded in Your Word, and to uphold the values that reflect Your holiness.
Let my love for the good be evident in my actions and attitudes. Teach me to cultivate kindness and compassion, to seek justice and mercy for those who are oppressed and marginalized. Help me to recognize opportunities to serve others around me, to stand in the gap for those in need, and to be a voice for the voiceless. As we are called to establish judgment in the gate, may I embody fairness, integrity, and truth, shining brightly in a dim world.
I cling to the promise that if I seek good and not evil, You shall be with me as You have spoken. What a profound assurance! Lord, I acknowledge my dependence on Your presence in my life. I cannot stand upright without Your guiding hand. May I ever be aware of Your spirit leading me toward righteousness and away from the snares of the enemy. It is my hearts' desire that we may dwell in harmony, with you guiding every step of my journey.
As I seek good, I also beseech You for the grace that You have promised to the remnant of Joseph. I lift up my family, my community, and indeed our nation, praying that we would turn from our wicked ways and return to You. May we collectively choose righteousness over wickedness, and may our hearts be transformed by a love for You and one another. Lord, pour out Your grace upon us, and may it lead us towards repentance and restoration.
Let our hearts break for the things that break Yours and cause us to stand resolutely against injustice. May we embody Your love in our interactions and be ambassadors for the good You desire to see in the world.
In closing, I thank You for Your Word, which equips and teaches us how to live a life that honors You. I humbly submit my inmost thoughts and desires into Your hands, trusting that Your grace is sufficient for me. May I ever seek the good, hate the evil, and find favor in Your sight. All this I pray in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
