Prayer for Strength and Discernment in Spiritual Life
"Sure. Here is the verse: Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God." - Colossians 2:18-19

Heavenly Father,
As I come before You today, I am filled with awe and reverence for Your greatness and Your profound love for us, Your children. You are the Creator, the sustainer of life, and the source of all wisdom. I thank You for the beauty of Your Word, which guides us and illuminates our paths. I reflect upon Colossians 2:18-19, where Your inspired servant warns us against the influences of this world that threaten to lead us astray from the truth. You say, "Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God."
Lord, I pray for discernment, that I may not be deceived by tempting philosophies or hollow teachings that appeal to the flesh but lack the foundation of Your truth. In a world filled with distractions and competing ideologies, it is easy to become entangled in vain concepts that stimulate the prideful heart but leave the spirit starved. I ask You to strengthen my resolve to cling to the simplicity of the Gospel, keeping my eyes steadfastly focused on Jesus Christ, the Head of the Church. Help me to reject anything that detracts from His supremacy and supremacy of Your Holy Spirit in my life.
I pray for protection from those who would lead me into false humility and idolization of created things, including angels or any spiritual beings. Teach me to honor all that exists in the heavenly realms without forgetting that it is You alone who are worthy of worship and reverence. Let my heart be wary of those who intrude upon the mysteries of the faith, claiming insights and experiences they have not seen or known. Grant me the wisdom to discern and reject this counterfeit spirituality. May I instead seek to understand the depth of what You have revealed to us in Scripture, so that my faith is founded securely upon Your promises.
Lord, I acknowledge my need for nourishment in You to grow in the grace and knowledge of my Lord and Savior. Without the joints and bands that unite the body of Christ, I cannot thrive. Therefore, I pray for an intertwined fellowship with fellow believers who seek to glorify You above all. May we support and encourage one another, reminding each other that we draw our strength from Christ, who is our sustenance. Let our relationships be built on the truth of Your Word, so we may experience the increase that comes from You alone. I ask for the humility to submit to one another in love and to seek unity in the Spirit, overcoming any division that may arise.
Help me to cultivate a deepening relationship with You, seeking to remain attached to the Head, Jesus Christ. May my faith be vibrant and active, grounded in an ongoing dialogue with You through prayer and meditation on Your Word. Let the wisdom from above guide my thoughts, steering me away from the temptations that lead to pride and self-deception.
Heavenly Father, as I journey through life, I long for an increasing measure of Your presence within me. Fill me with the Holy Spirit, that I may reflect the character of Christ in all that I do. May my life be a testament to Your glory and a witness to others of the power that comes from being rooted in You.
In all things, may I seek to bring honor to Your name and serve You, understanding that my ultimate reward is found in Your Son, through whom I find everlasting life and peace. Thank You, Lord, for Your Word and the instruction and protection it provides. In Jesus’ name, I pray.
Amen.

Colossians 2:18-19 - "Let no one disqualify you, insisting on asceticism and worship of angels, going on in detail about visions, puffed up without reason by his sensuous mind, and not holding fast to the Head, from whom the whole body, nourished and knit together through its joints and ligaments, grows with a growth that is from God."
