“Behold, One Like the Son of Man”: A Prayer of Worship, Hope, and Holy Surrender
"I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him." - Daniel 7:13

Ancient of days, Most High God, eternal and unchanging, I come before You with reverence and awe. I quiet my heart in Your presence, and I lift my eyes to Your throne, knowing that You reign above every generation, every kingdom, and every power. Your wisdom has no beginning, and Your righteousness has no end. Today I worship You not only for what You do, but for who You are—holy, just, merciful, and faithful.
Lord, I thank You for Your Word, and I hold closely to what You revealed through Daniel. Your Scripture says, “I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.” I receive this holy vision with trembling joy. I praise You that You have not left the world without light, and You have not left Your people without hope. When darkness surrounds, when fears rise, when the future feels uncertain, Your Word pulls back the curtain and shows that heaven is not confused and Your purposes are not threatened.
Father, I fix my attention on the glory of this truth: “one like the Son of man” comes “with the clouds of heaven.” Let my heart be anchored in the majesty of Your promised rule and the certainty of Your triumph. I confess that I am often distracted by what is temporary, and I sometimes measure reality by what I can see. Forgive me for the ways I have feared the noise of the world more than I have trusted the authority of heaven. Teach me to live by faith, and to remember that the cloud-borne coming of the Son of man speaks of Your sovereign power and of a kingdom that cannot be shaken.
Ancient of days, I praise You that the Son of man “came to the Ancient of days.” What a holy mystery and a holy comfort: the One who comes is not unknown to You, not distant from You, not acting apart from You. He comes in perfect alignment with Your will, in perfect righteousness, in perfect obedience. And Your Word says, “they brought him near before him.” Lord, let that nearness move my soul. Let me remember that in Your presence, everything is weighed truly, and every false crown falls away. Let my pride be humbled there; let my hidden sin be exposed there; let my heavy burdens be lifted there.
God of Daniel, make me a person who lives in the light of this vision. Give me holy courage in my daily life. When I face pressures that try to shape my beliefs, strengthen me to stand with a clear conscience. When I am tempted to compromise, remind me that You are the Ancient of days, and that all human approval fades like grass. When I feel weary, lift my eyes to the Son of man who comes with the clouds of heaven, and restore hope within me that You are moving history toward Your righteous ends.
I pray for my family, my church, and my community: draw us near to You in repentance and faith. Help us to worship with purity, to serve with humility, and to speak truth with love. Where there is division, bring reconciliation. Where there is injustice, raise up righteousness. Where there is despair, breathe courage. And where there is confusion, establish clarity by Your Word.
Ancient of days, prepare my heart for the day of Your perfect unveiling. Train me to watch and pray, to live soberly and faithfully, and to treasure what is eternal. Let me not be consumed by fear of what may come on earth, but be steadied by what You have already shown from heaven. Make my life a testimony that I believe what You have spoken: “I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.”
So I yield myself to You today—my thoughts, my plans, my desires, my habits, my words. Reign in me. Cleanse me. Guide me. Keep me faithful until the end. And let my worship rise: to the Ancient of days, who sits in eternal majesty, and to the Son of man, who comes in heavenly glory. Amen.
