A Prayer of Remembrance and Gratitude for God’s Deliverance

"And what he did unto the army of Egypt, unto their horses, and to their chariots; how he made the water of the Red sea to overflow them as they pursued after you, and how the LORD hath destroyed them unto this day;" - Deuteronomy 11:4

"And what he did unto the army of Egypt, unto their horses, and to their chariots; how he made the water of the Red sea to overflow them as they pursued after you, and how the LORD hath destroyed them unto this day;" - Deuteronomy 11:{verse.verse_number}

O Great and Mighty God,

In humility, we approach Your throne of grace today, hearts filled with gratitude as we remember the mighty works You have performed throughout history, particularly the miraculous deliverance of Your people from the grasp of Pharaoh. We look back to Deuteronomy 11:4 where it is written, "And what he did unto the army of Egypt, unto their horses, and to their chariots; how he made the water of the Red sea to overflow them as they pursued after you, and how the LORD hath destroyed them unto this day."

Indeed, Lord, You are a God of wondrous deeds and unwavering faithfulness! You parted the waters of the Red Sea, enabling Your chosen people to escape from slavery and pursue the promise of a land flowing with milk and honey. We marvel at the scene where the waters stood like walls, and Your people walked on dry ground, while the proud army of Egypt followed in vain pursuit, only to meet their demise in the depths of the sea.

As we reflect on these great events, we acknowledge the power and might that are within Your hand. You are not just a historical figure, but the living God who acts in the affairs of humanity. You showed Your strength against the enemies of Your people and declared to the world that no one can stand against You. In Your awesome authority, You have demonstrated that our adversaries cannot prevail against us when we are under Your divine protection.

We lift our voices in thanksgiving today for the ways You have intervened in our lives. Just as You rescued the Israelites from the clutches of oppression, we recognize and celebrate the many times You have delivered us from our own struggles, trials, and tribulations. Each moment of rescue reminds us of Your goodness, mercy, and faithfulness.

Forgive us, O Lord, for the times that we have forgotten Your faithfulness, or when we have lived in doubt rather than in trust. Teach us, dear God, to perpetually remember what You have done – not only for the Israelites, but for each of us personally. Help us to carry the memory of Your miraculous acts in our hearts, so that we may be a lighthouse to others who are still engulfed in the darkness of bondage and despair. May our testimonies inspire hope, faith, and courage in those who feel they are surrounded.

Lord, as we live in the world today, we often face our own 'Egypts.' Help us to remember that every challenge we encounter can be met with faith as we recall Your past victories. You have equipped us with the weapons of prayer and worship, and fortified our spirits with Your Word, the same Word that has the power to silence the storms around us and within us.

Father, we ask for strength and bravery to turn to You in our hour of need, to trust in Your providence when the waters seem to rise against us. Just as You devastated the enemies of Israel, show us Your strength against our own enemies—those who seek to bring discouragement, fear, and doubt into our lives. And even as we face these challenges, may we forever remember that You have already given us victory through Jesus Christ our Lord!

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray for continual deliverance and guidance. May we ever live in remembrance of Your powerful acts, celebrating not just deliverance from physical captivity, but the ongoing redemption of our hearts and minds. Thank You for the promises that remind us that we are never alone in our pursuits. As You were with Your people of old, we trust that You are with us today and unto perpetuity.

In full faith, we commit our lives and our struggles to You, remembering Your great deeds as we look forward to Your continued faithfulness in our journeys ahead.

Amen.
