Prayer of Blessing and Unity on Mount Gerizim
"These shall stand upon mount Gerizim to bless the people, when ye are come over Jordan; Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Joseph, and Benjamin:" - Deuteronomy 27:12

O Sovereign Lord, the Eternal One, Creator of heaven and earth, we come before You today with hearts full of reverence and gratitude for Your enduring promises and the inheritance of blessings that You have bestowed upon us. As we reflect upon the sacred instruction found in Deuteronomy 27:12, where it is written, "These shall stand upon mount Gerizim to bless the people, when ye are come over Jordan; Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Joseph, and Benjamin," we are reminded of the great significance of blessings in our lives, and the calling to embody unity among Your people.
Lord, we acknowledge that Your Word is a light unto our path, guiding us through the challenges and uncertainties of life. Just as You commanded the tribes of Israel to bless the people from the heights of Mount Gerizim, we likewise seek to ascend to our own spiritual heights in order to become instruments of Your mighty blessings. We pray that You grant us the power of Your Spirit to bless others, that our words may be seeds of encouragement and hope, bringing unity, peace, and joy among our families, communities, and nations.
We stand together, Lord, just as the tribes of Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin came together on that day, unified in purpose and intent. We ask, dear Father, for a heart of unity among the diverse expressions of faith and life that exist in our world today. Help us to see beyond our differences and bond us together in love and respect for one another, even in the midst of diversity. Teach us to reach out to those who may be different from us and to celebrate the beauty of the unique contributions they bring to the fabric of our society.
Mighty God, we beseech You to let blessings overflow in our lives, in our families, and in our communities. May our hearts be continually turned toward You, that we may remain steadfast in faith, knowing that You are a God who fulfills Your promises. May the blessings proclaimed from Mount Gerizim echo in our hearts, reminding us of the power that lies in our voices to uplift and encourage our brothers and sisters in Christ.
We also call upon You, O Lord, to pour out blessings upon our leaders, guiding them to make wise and righteous decisions. Just as the tribes stood ready to bless the people of Israel, we recognize the role of leadership in shaping the lives of those they serve. We pray for divine wisdom for those in authority, that they may lead with integrity and love, striving for justice and peace across the land.
Lord, may we never take for granted the gift of community and fellowship. Restore us when we stray apart and remind us that in unity, we reflect Your image more fully. Like the tribes who gathered on Mount Gerizim, let us also carry the weight of each other’s burdens, celebrating each other's victories and standing firm in times of sorrow. Teach us always to bless, rather than curse; to love, rather than hate; to inspire, rather than diminish.
O God, we reflect on the name of each tribe that gathered; Simeon, whose name speaks of being heard, Levi, who was destined to serve, Judah, whom we associate with praise, Issachar, a symbol of understanding, Joseph, who exemplified resilience, and Benjamin, the son of my right hand. May each of these attributes find a stronghold in our character so that we may carry forth the kind of blessings that lead to profound changes in the lives of those around us.
As we journey toward the promises You hold for us, may Your blessings flow as a river, clear and abundant. We thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer. May all glory, honor, and praise belong to You now and forever. Amen.
