A Prayer for Wisdom and Peace of Heart
"Also take no heed unto all words that are spoken; lest thou hear thy servant curse thee:" - Ecclesiastes 7:21

Dear Heavenly Father,
As I come into Your presence today, I’m reminded of Your infinite wisdom—the wisdom that breathes life into the very fabric of our existence. Father, I sit before You, seeking understanding and clarity for my soul, as I reflect on the words from Ecclesiastes 7:21: "Also take no heed unto all words that are spoken; lest thou hear thy servant curse thee."
Lord, You know the burdens I carry, the doubts that often cloud my mind, and the worries that grip my heart. In a world filled with noise and chaos, it is easy to become consumed by the opinions and murmurs of others. Help me to recognize that not all words through which I hear or encounter are worthy of my ear or my attention. I ask for Your strength to resist the temptation to dwell on every fragment of speech that passes through my world.
I pray for the discernment to know which words I should embrace and which should be cast aside. Your Word reminds me that the tongue has the power to hurt and to heal, to bless and to curse. Help me to remain anchored in Your truth, and allow Your Spirit to guide my understanding. May I not be led astray by the vanity of idle talk, or fall prey to the harsh judgments of those around me.
As I navigate my relationships—whether with friends, family, or even acquaintances—grant me the grace to extend love and compassion. Teach me to listen, not just to the words spoken but to the tone, the heart, and the intent behind them. Enable me to rise above the grievances or potentially slanderous remarks that may be made about me. Instead of searching for offense, help me to respond with kindness, understanding, and forgiveness, as You would have me do.
Father, You say in Your Word that "out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks" (Matthew 12:34). May I be reminded that when others curse or speak ill, it is often a reflection of their own struggles and insecurities. Instill in me a spirit of compassion, so I may respond with grace and not with anger or retaliation. Equip me, Lord, with the ability to see each person as a reflection of Your image—imperfect yet beloved.
I pray that the strength of my character would not waver under the weight of gossip or defamation. Help me to find peace in knowing that, in the grand scheme of eternity, the opinions of others hold no power over my identity in You. I am Your child; I am loved, I am accepted, and I am cherished. Let this truth resonate deeply in my heart, shielding me against the barbs of criticism.
Help me to take my worries to You, and not allow them to take root in my spirit. When I hear words that pierce or sting, may I retreat into Your presence. There, I will find solace and healing. Allow Your comfort to envelop me, washing away any residue of pain or bitterness the spoken words may leave behind. Let me not dwell on thoughts that may sow discord, but rather fill my mind with Your goodness, mercy, and strength.
In this journey of life, Father, teach me the art of silence, the blessing of restraint, and the beauty of inner tranquility. I desire a heart that remains unperturbed in the face of strife, unshaken by the disapprovals of mere mortals. Let my eyes stay fixed on You, the author and finisher of my faith, so I may find my worth and validation in Your love alone.
Thank You, Lord, for hearing this prayer. I trust in Your perfect timing and in Your sovereign plan for my life. May I be a vessel of Your peace, pouring forth love, and not allowing the words of others to define my worth or lead me astray. I pray all these things in the precious name of Jesus.
Amen.
