A Prayer of Gratitude for God's Rich Mercy and Great Love
"But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)" - Ephesians 2:4-5

Heavenly Father,
We come before You today with hearts filled with reverence and gratitude, acknowledging the profound truth of Your Word as expressed in Ephesians 2:4-5: "But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)" Lord, as we reflect on this verse, we recognize the depth of Your mercy and the abundance of Your love that reaches us even in our most desperate state.
Oh Lord, how amazing it is to know that You are rich in mercy! Your mercy flows abundantly, not in small measure but in great waves that wash over us, cleansing us from our past sins and mistakes. When we were lost and bound by our transgressions, Your mercy found us. You saw us in our weakness, in our despair, and instead of turning away in judgment, You extended Your hand of grace and redemption. Thank You, Father, for being the God who does not forsake His children. It is in Your mercy that we find solace and healing.
Reflecting on our former state of being dead in sins, I am overwhelmed by the reality of how far we have strayed from Your glory. Sin has a death grip on our lives, leading us down paths of destruction and despair. But, dear Lord, You did not leave us in that dark place. You sent Your Son, Jesus Christ, as the embodiment of Your love. He came to seek and to save that which was lost, and it was through His sacrifice that we have been offered new life. We marvel at the greatness of Your love!
You demonstrated this great love for us while we were still in our sins. What kind of love is this that You would lay down the life of Your only Son for us? It is a love deeper than any ocean, wider than the skies, and higher than our minds can comprehend. It is a love that knows no bounds, that desires for us to be reconciled with You. Your love is transformative, and we are forever changed because of it.
Lord, thank You for quickening us together with Christ. We acknowledge that it is through Him we have been made alive. We confess that our spiritual deadness was overwhelming, but You breathed life into our weary souls and filled us with Your Spirit. We are no longer defined by our past or shackled by sin, but we have been raised to newness of life in Christ. Let us walk confidently in this new identity, proclaiming the freedom we now have. Help us to live in a manner that reflects Your grace and mercy, showcasing Your love to a world that is in desperate need of hope.
Father, we realize that our salvation is a gift of grace. We did nothing to deserve it and can do nothing to earn it. It was Your unmerited favor that washed over us when we placed our faith in Jesus. Instill within us a deep appreciation for this grace. Let it humble us, motivate us, and compel us to share the good news of the gospel with others who are still lost in their sin.
As we go throughout our days, may we never forget the weight of what You have done for us. May we carry the message of Ephesians 2:4-5 in our hearts, proclaiming Your rich mercy and great love to everyone around us. Help us to demonstrate grace to others just as You have shown us grace. We ask that You empower us to be instruments of Your peace, mercy, and love in our families, our communities, and beyond.
In all things, may Your name be glorified. We thank You, Lord, for Your unspeakable gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. It is in His precious name we pray.
Amen.
