A Prayer for Devoted Service to the Lord
"With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:" - Ephesians 6:7

Heavenly Father,
I come before You today with a humble heart, acknowledging Your infinite goodness and mercy. As I immerse myself in the precious words of the Holy Scriptures, I find solace and guidance in Ephesians 6:7, which reminds us, "With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men." In the hustle and bustle of life, as temptations to seek recognition and reward from the world surround us, I pray that You help me realign my motives towards serving You above all else.
Lord, instill in me a spirit of good will, that I may approach every task and every service with a heart filled with joy and sincerity. It is so easy to get lost in the expectations of others, to seek validation from men rather than from You. Lord, I ask that You help me to see each opportunity to serve as a holy privilege, a chance to honor You and reflect Your love to all those around me. When my heart is tempted to grumble or my spirit feels weary, remind me of the greater purpose behind my labor.
Help me to remember that every action I undertake is not merely for earthly accolades but is ultimately a service rendered to You. Teach me to embrace the mundane and the extraordinary alike, knowing that even the smallest acts of kindness carry significance when they are done for You. May I find fulfillment in the knowledge that even if my work goes unnoticed by men, it is cherished and acknowledged by You, the Creator of Heaven and Earth.
Lord, grant me the strength to serve wholeheartedly, to give my best effort regardless of the circumstances. Whether in my workplace, at home, or in my community, let my service be a reflection of Your love and grace. Help me to be patient and understanding with those I serve, especially when they are difficult to love. Instill in me a heart that is compassionate, understanding, and forgiving, so that my actions mirror Your character, the embodiment of perfect love.
I also pray for those I serve. May they feel Your presence through my actions, and may my service inspire them to seek You. Let my words and deeds be a lighthouse guiding them towards You. May I never lose sight of the fact that in serving others, I am ultimately serving You. Equip me with discernment to recognize the needs of those around me and the wisdom to meet them without expectation, as You do for us.
Father, help me to combat complacency. When I grow tired or burdened by the demands of serving, remind me of Your unfailing love and the grace that empowers me. Give me a fresh vision of how I can serve in new and creative ways. Create in me a heart that is willing, ready to answer the call, and excited to be a part of Your work in this world.
And as I pour myself into the service of others, fill my soul with Your peace and affirmation. Renew my spirit daily with the truth that I am not merely working for human approval but am participating in Your divine plan. May my heart resonate with joy, knowing that every act of love, every gesture of kindness, and every moment of service is an opportunity to glorify You.
Thank You, Lord, for the gift of serving others and for the opportunity to grow closer to You in everything I do. Help me to carry out Ephesians 6:7 in my daily life, doing service with good will as to You, and not to men. I surrender my heart and my deeds into Your hands, trusting that You will bless them and use them for Your glory.
In Jesus’ precious name, I pray, Amen.
