Gracious and Eternal God,

As we bow our heads and prepare our hearts in reverence, we come before You with a spirit of gratitude and an earnest yearning to seek Your face. We reflect on the words spoken in Exodus 12:8, “And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.” In these simple yet profound instructions, You encapsulated the essence of salvation, deliverance, and remembrance for Your people. Help us to understand the depth of Your will through this sacred verse and the pivotal moments it represents in the history of Your chosen ones.

Heavenly Father, as we gather our thoughts around the Passover sacrifice, let it be a moment of renewal for us. The roast lamb, a symbol of sacrifice, reminds us of the ultimate Lamb who was slain for our sins. As we recall the story of the Israelites and their Exodus from Egypt, we also acknowledge that we too are on a journey, a pilgrimage toward a promised land that You have prepared for us. We ask that You grant us the strength to carry our burdens, just as the Israelites endured the trials of their enslavement. In our darkest nights, remind us of the hope found in Your promises.

Lord, help us to partake of our spiritual nourishment with sincerity and deep awareness. We learn that the unleavened bread serves not only as a physical sustenance but also as a profound reminder of the purity we must strive for as Your disciples. Let this bread symbolize not only sustenance but also a reflection of our commitment to live free of the leaven of sin. May it be a covenant between us, one that urges us to live chastened lives in accordance with Your will.

And as we accept the bitter herbs, let us not shy away from the discomfort and suffering that it represents. Teach us the value of perseverance through pain and trials. In Your hands, the bitter becomes sweet, just as You transform our hardships into a tapestry of growth and grace. May we learn to embrace every part of our journey, not just the victories, but also the struggles that mold us into the image of Christ. We lift before You our personal trials and the trials of our communities. May we find strength in unity, reminding one another that through the bitterness, Your light continues to shine.

Father, deliver us as You delivered the Israelites long ago. We acknowledge the power of Your mighty hand in our lives, and we beseech You to break the chains that bind us to sin, despair, and hopelessness. Let Your blood be our safeguard as we confront the challenges of our day. By Your grace, may we heed the call to live as those who have tasted deliverance, reflecting that experience to a world still shrouded in darkness.

As we engage in the practice of remembrance through communion, help us to teach our children and generations to come about the significance of the Passover. May this tradition not fade but instead instill within us a profound understanding of who You are—our Deliverer, our Redeemer. Enable us to pass on the heritage of faith, allowing the narratives of our past to fuel the fire of hope and passion for You in those who follow.

Lord, as we partake today in communion, let us do so with a heart full of reverence, gratitude, and joy, recognizing the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the true Passover Lamb.
