O Lord Most High,

We come before Your throne of grace with reverence and humility, recognizing Your grandeur and the sacredness of Your presence. As You instructed Moses regarding the construction of the tabernacle and the placement of the altar of incense, we, too, seek to cultivate a space within our hearts and lives where we can encounter You, Lord—where we can meet with You in the holy place.

In the book of Exodus, You declared, "And thou shalt put it before the vail that is by the ark of the testimony, before the mercy seat that is over the testimony, where I will meet with thee" (Exodus 30:6, KJV). You promised, O God, that You would meet with Your people in a designated place, setting a boundary between the holy and the ordinary, the divine and the secular. We come to You seeking the same intimacy and connection that You provided to Your people through Moses.

Heavenly Father, as we draw near to this altar of incense, which symbolizes our prayers rising before You, may our hearts be pure and our intentions sincere. Let not any unclean thing—fear, doubt, bitterness—remain in us as we approach Your mercy seat. Cleanse us, Lord, with the precious blood of Christ, that we may stand in the holy presence of our God, with nothing separating us from communion with You.

We reflect upon the significance of the veil that separated the holy place from the Most Holy. It serves as a profound reminder of our need for mediation, for apart from You, we are unworthy. Thank You for tearing that veil at the moment of Christ's crucifixion, granting us direct access to You. May we never take this privilege lightly, but rather approach with awe and gratefulness.

O Lord, help us to be diligent in our prayers. Just as the priests tended to the altar of incense daily, let us foster a spirit of continuous communion with You. May prayer not be a task we check off our lists, but a sweet offering of our hearts, a fragrant aroma rising to the heavens, drawing us closer to Your presence. Teach us to seek You not only in times of need but in times of gratitude and joy, recognizing that our relationship with You is a two-way conversation.

As we stand before the mercy seat, where forgiveness and grace abound, help us to acknowledge our shortcomings. We confess that we often fall short and stray from the paths You have laid before us. Forgive us for the moments we have neglected our relationship with You and for allowing distractions to pull us away from our sacred rendezvous. Instill in us a burning desire to meet with You consistently, to understand Your will and purpose for our lives.

Lord, let us also remember that our meeting with You is not a solitary experience. As we approach the altar, remind us of our community—the body of Christ. May our prayers be intertwined, our burdens shared, and our joys multiplied as we come together before You. Teach us to intercede for one another, believing that where two or three are gathered in Your name, You are present.

As we leave this sacred time of prayer, may the implications of this meeting transform our lives. Help us to carry Your light into the world, shining brightly in the darkness. Let the inspiration from our encounters with You motivate us to share the gospel with those who have yet to know Your compassion and love.

In Your holy name, we pray, lifting our hearts in openness to the work You want to accomplish within us and through us. We await the fulfillment of Your promises, confident in the truth that You are a God who desires to meet with us, now and forevermore.
