A Cry for Deliverance

"Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron, and said, Intreat the LORD, that he may take away the frogs from me, and from my people; and I will let the people go, that they may do sacrifice unto the LORD." - Exodus 8:8

"Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron, and said, Intreat the LORD, that he may take away the frogs from me, and from my people; and I will let the people go, that they may do sacrifice unto the LORD." - Exodus 8:{verse.verse_number}

Heavenly Father, Creator of the universe and Sovereign Lord over all, we come before you with hearts weighed down by the burdens of this world. We humbly acknowledge your power and might, recognizing that nothing is too difficult for you. Just as Pharaoh cried out to Moses and Aaron in his distress, asking them to intercede on his behalf, so too do we approach you with our needs.

In this moment, we turn to the account in Exodus 8:8, where Pharaoh said, “Intreat the LORD, that he may take away the frogs from me, and from my people; and I will let the people go, that they may do sacrifice unto the LORD.” Lord, we understand that Pharaoh's plight reminds us of our own situations—how often we find ourselves overwhelmed by issues that seem insurmountable, much like the plague of frogs that infested the land of Egypt.

We recognize the frogs as a symbol of the chaos and disturbances that plague our lives. Sometimes, Lord, it feels as if we are inundated with the challenges and trials of life: financial troubles, relational struggles, overwhelming responsibilities, and doubts that creep into our minds. Help us, God, to look to You as our source of help and strength. Just as Moses was called upon to pray and plead for relief, we too come seeking Your grace and intervention in our lives.

Lord, we ask that you move in our circumstances. We pray for Your mighty hand to take away the frogs—those distractions, those worries, and those burdens that hinder our ability to worship and serve You freely. In the depths of our hearts, we desire to be set free to offer our lives as sacrifices to you, for you are worthy of all praise and honor. We long to shed the weights that keep us from doing Your will, just as Pharaoh was willing to release the Israelites to worship you in the wilderness.

God, we know that sometimes, just like Pharaoh's heart became hardened despite his pleas, we too can become stubborn and resistant to change. Help us, Father, to not only seek relief from our troubles but also to allow you to transform our hearts. Let us surrender fully, understanding that our freedom comes not just from our circumstances but from our submission to Your will. May we seek to do sacrifice unto the LORD, giving back to you what is rightfully Yours.

Father, as we pray for deliverance, we also pray for intercessors—those who will stand with us in prayer, just as Moses and Aaron stood before Pharaoh. Give us the discernment to reach out to those who can help lift us up during our times of trouble. Surround us with believers who can join us in prayer, lifting our needs before you, and encouraging us in our faith.

Lord, we also want to pray for those who may be in positions of authority like Pharaoh. We ask that their hearts be softened to recognize their need for you, just as Pharaoh acknowledged his need for Moses’ intercession. Open their eyes to the oppression they may cause others, and grant them the courage to let go of their strongholds that prevent freedom for those they govern.

In closing, we surrender our lives to you, asking that no matter what frogs plague our existence, we will turn to You as our refuge. We pray for deliverance and restoration, trusting that as we seek You, you will hear our cries and respond with grace and mercy. We leave our burdens in your hands, eager to live lives that are pleasing to You, filled with purpose and dedicated to Your Kingdom work.

In Jesus' holy name, Amen.
