A Prayer for Purity and Restoration
"And tookest thy broidered garments, and coveredst them: and thou hast set mine oil and mine incense before them." - Ezekiel 16:18

Heavenly Father,
As I come before You today, I bow my heart in reverence and humility, acknowledging Your everlasting grace and mercy. Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path; I seek to understand and apply the wisdom drawn from Ezekiel 16:18, which says, "And tookest thy broidered garments, and coveredst them: and thou hast set mine oil and mine incense before them.” Lord, help me to delve deeply into this verse and heed the lessons it imparts regarding our relationship with You.
Father, I reflect on the broidered garments, a symbol of adornment and beauty, representative of how we often cover ourselves with worldly things – our desires, our ambitions, and sometimes our sins. In a world filled with distraction and temptation, teach us to remove these broidered garments that separate us from Your true intentions for our lives. May we not allow our hearts to be swayed by the allure of materialism or the superficial validations from society, as I see the danger in adorning myself with what is not of You. Help us to renounce these distractions and seek instead to be clothed in Christ, wrapped in His righteousness and love.
O Lord, I pray for a spirit of discernment, that You would guide me in recognizing when I am attempting to cover up my imperfections with worldly fabrications rather than turning to You for true healing and restoration. You desire purity within us that surpasses anything this world can offer. May I not set aside Your precious oil and incense, which represents Your divine anointing and grace, for anything less than the fullness of Your presence. Forgive me, Father, for the times I have exchanged Your gifts for fleeting pleasures that lead to emptiness.
Help me to remember that Your oil represents the anointing of the Holy Spirit that sanctifies and empowers me. Let me not withhold this precious gift from You by hoarding it or using it selfishly. May I generously share Your love and grace with others, just as You have freely given it to me. Let me recognize the importance of the incense, which stands as a sweet aroma before You, symbolic of my prayers and worship. Teach me to cultivate a heart of devotion that honors You deeply and consistently, so my life becomes an offering that is pleasing to You.
Lord, I ask for forgiveness for the moments I have failed to truly reflect Your glory in my life. I have unwittingly set aside Your oil and incense in a desire to please man instead of being wholly devoted to You. I repent for those times I have sought validation from the world instead of recognizing my identity as Your beloved child. Purify my heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. I invite Your Holy Spirit to flow in and through me, equipping me to live out my calling with boldness and faith.
Instead of covering myself with distractions, Lord, help me to emerge in the authenticity of who I am in You. Let my garments be woven with threads of integrity, humility, kindness, and love. Let every act of worship, every prayer, and every moment spent in Your presence be infused with the oil of Your Spirit and rise before You as incense, bringing glory to Your name.
As I close this prayer, I ask for Your continued guidance and strength. Let me remain steadfast and resolute in my commitment to You, setting aside anything that would hinder my relationship with You. I trust in Your ability to transform me and to restore my heart to its rightful state. May I forever cherish the gifts of Your oil and incense and never allow them to become trivialized in my life.
In the mighty and precious name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
