"Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?" - Ezekiel 18:23

O Lord God, our Creator, with hearts humbled in Your presence, we come before You today, reflecting on the words spoken through Your prophet Ezekiel, who proclaimed, "Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?" (Ezekiel 18:23, KJV). We acknowledge, Heavenly Father, that You are a God of love and mercy, desiring not the destruction of Your creation, but rather that every soul should turn from its wicked ways and find true life in You.

As we approach You in this moment of prayer, we ask for forgiveness for the times we have strayed from Your path, for the moments we have chosen darkness over light, and for the deeds we have committed that do not glorify Your holy name. You, O Lord, desire our hearts to be turned toward You, repenting of our sins, and seeking restoration in Your presence. We confess that we often miss the mark, succumbing to the temptations of this world, neglecting Your call to live righteously and justly.

Pour out Your compassion upon us, Father. We acknowledge that we often misinterpret Your intentions; we falsely believe You delight in our suffering and condemn us for our failures. Yet in this scripture, we see Your heart revealed: You grieve over the death of the wicked, and it pains You to witness the separation that sin brings. Show us, O God, how we might reflect this divine compassion in our own lives towards those who have wandered away from You.

We implore You, Lord, to soften our hearts so that we may learn to love as You love — to mourn for those caught in the web of sin, to intercede on their behalf rather than casting judgment. Help us to recognize that every person, no matter how far they have fallen, is still a possibility for redemption. As we enter this time of repentance, may we be agents of Your grace, striving to share the message of forgiveness and hope found in You.

Holy Spirit, we invite You to work within our hearts, stirring in us a desire to return from our ways that lead to death. Teach us what it means to live fully in alignment with Your will, to cast aside the selfish desires that lead us astray, and to embrace the path that leads to life everlasting in You. Let us not become complacent in our walk with You; instead, ignite a fire within us to seek holiness and righteousness in all we do.

O Lord, we also bring before You the wicked and the lost; those who reside in the shadows, blinded by the darkness around them. We pray for their awakening. Let Your light shine into their lives, illuminating the truth of Your love and grace. We pray that they may feel Your tug upon their hearts, calling them to return from their ways of destruction and embrace the beautiful gift of life which You freely offer.

As we lift them up in prayer, help us to walk alongside them with acceptance and grace. May we be vessels of Your mercy, guiding them gently back to You. May our words be seasoned with Your love so that, through us, they may encounter You in ways they have never imagined.

In closing, we thank You, Lord, for Your unfailing commitment to restoring the broken and healing the lost. May we be reminded of Your deep desire for repentance and renewal not only for ourselves but for all creation. We trust in Your promise that no one is beyond Your reach, and we rejoice in the hope that stems from knowing You do not delight in death but long for life, fullness, and repentance.

Glory be to You, O Lord God, who desires that all should live! Amen.
