O Sovereign Lord, King of Glory, the great and mighty God who rules from everlasting to everlasting, I come before You with a heart full of reverence and a spirit yearning for Your mercy. As I reflect on Your holy words from Ezekiel 34:8, I am struck by the weight of Your lament over Your flock, and it stirs my soul to seek Your face on behalf of those who have been cast aside and left vulnerable in a world full of predation.

‘As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely because my flock became a prey, and my flock became meat to every beast of the field, because there was no shepherd, neither did my shepherds search for my flock, but the shepherds fed themselves, and fed not my flock;’

Lord, You see the plight of Your people, and I stand in acknowledgment of the times Your flock has been led astray, neglected, or taken advantage of by those who were called to guide and protect them. How heartbreaking it must be for You to witness Your children suffer due to the lack of righteous leadership. Forgive us, O God, for the times we have allowed our eyes to turn away from the needs of others, when we have prioritized our own comfort over the welfare of Your beloved flock. Forgive the leaders who have placed their own desires above the spiritual nourishment and well-being of those under their care.

We pray for repentance and restoration, O Lord. Raise up shepherds after Your own heart, filled with compassion, wisdom, and a fervent desire to serve rather than to be served. Anoint them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may seek out the lost, heal the brokenhearted, and bind up the wounded. May they have the courage to stand against the beasts of the field—those forces of darkness that prey on the vulnerable—and may they defend Your flock with the strength and integrity that comes from You alone.

Lord, I ask that You stir within the hearts of Your people a longing for community and collective care. May we not turn a blind eye to the struggles of our brothers and sisters but instead reach out with love, grace, and compassion. Let it be that when we see one of our own in distress, we do not remain passive but respond with action, bringing them into the fold of Your love and protection.

I lift up the church, the body of Christ, which is called to be a place of refuge and strength for the weary. May every church be a haven where Your flock can find nourishment, guidance, and safety. I pray for revival within our congregations; reignite the fire of our calling to go out into the world as true shepherds, tending to those who feel unseen and unimportant. Enable us to feed the hungry, visit the sick, and advocate for the marginalized, embodying the love of Christ in every way.

Furthermore, I plead for those who have been harmed by wolves in sheep's clothing, those who have been misled or neglected. May they find healing in Your arms, O Lord. Restore their hope and renew their spirits, allowing them to know that they are still part of Your flock, forever precious in Your sight. Give them strength to reclaim their identity in You as beloved children, worthy of care and love.

As I conclude this prayer, Lord, I do so with the knowledge of Your great promise to seek out Your sheep and to care for them. You are our Good Shepherd, and in You, there is a promise of restoration and comfort. Thank you for Your unfailing love and for the assurance that You will always pursue Your flock with relentless love. May we, in turn, become the hands and feet of Jesus, shepherding one another as You've called us to do. In Jesus' mighty name, I pray, Amen.
