Reviving the Valley of Dry Bones: A Prayer of Restoration
"And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry." - Ezekiel 37:2

O Lord God of Heaven and Earth,
I come before You in humble reverence, acknowledging Your majesty and omnipotence. As I ponder upon the profound words of Ezekiel 37:2, "And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry," I am reminded of the vastness of Your grace and the depth of Your compassion. You are the Creator who formed man from dust, breathing life into our very being, and I seek Your mighty hand to breathe life into the dry bones of despair around us.
Dear Lord, we find ourselves in valleys of our own, surrounded by circumstances that seem hopeless, relationships that appear lifeless, and dreams that have withered away. Like Ezekiel in the valley, we sometimes feel surrounded by desolation and despair. I pray that You grant us the vision to see what You see, to perceive the depth of the dryness both in ourselves and in those around us. May we not turn away from these difficult situations, but may we have the courage to venture forward and face them with a heart full of faith.
As I walk through the valleys of life, remind me of Your power to revitalize what seems beyond repair. Just as You commanded the prophet Ezekiel to observe the dry bones, I ask that You open my eyes to the areas in my life and in the lives of others that desperately need Your restoration. Guide me, Lord, to remain attentive to the cries of the broken-hearted and to acknowledge the sufferings of those who feel abandoned. Help us to hear the silent screams of despair, even in the seemingly forgotten places of our communities.
I pray for my brothers and sisters who feel like dry bones at this moment—those battling addiction, those trapped in cycles of poverty and abuse, those lost in the wilderness of loneliness, and those struggling with physical and mental illnesses. O Lord, may Your Spirit move upon them. Breathe Your breath of life upon their dry bones; rekindle hope where there is none. May they experience a great awakening of their spirits, a revival that can only be attributed to You.
Lord, You are the God who brings forth life from death. Just as You raised up an army from those dry bones in Ezekiel’s vision, I pray for a resurrection of purpose and passion among Your people. Transform our dry valleys into fertile grounds of growth and renewal. Give us the strength to believe in miracles, even when the evidence of our eyes suggests otherwise. Help us to declare with confidence that what is impossible with man is possible with You.
Father, I also ask for the wisdom to play our part in this revival process. Equip us to become instruments of Your peace and hope. Teach us how to extend a hand to the weary, to encourage the hopeless, and to love the unlovable. Let our presence be a reminder of Your love and mercy. Show us our responsibilities in your grand tapestry of restoration, and ignite our hearts to diligently work towards healing ourselves and those around us.
In this time of prayer, I surrender every dry bone in my life, everything that has been lifeless, abandoned, and desolate. I release my struggles into Your hands and trust in Your divine ability to transform them. Let Your will be done in our lives, and may we emerge from our valleys, strong and renewed, ready to glorify Your name.
Lord, I thank You for Your promise of revival, for Your promise to restore the years the locust has eaten, and for Your unfailing love that never runs dry. I leave this prayer at Your altar, hoping and praying for the miraculous transformation of dry bones into living beings, alive and filled with the breath of Your Spirit.
In Jesus' mighty name, I pray,
Amen.
