A Prayer for Boldness and Compassion in Witnessing
"And go, get thee to them of the captivity, unto the children of thy people, and speak unto them, and tell them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear." - Ezekiel 3:11

Heavenly Father,
In the stillness of this moment, I come before You with a heart full of reverence and gratitude. I thank You for the gift of Your Word, which guides us and illuminates our paths. Today, as I reflect on Your profound command in Ezekiel 3:11, "And go, get thee to them of the captivity, unto the children of thy people, and speak unto them, and tell them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear," I am reminded of the deep responsibility and privilege I have to be Your messenger in this world.
Lord, You called Ezekiel to speak to a people in captivity, to bring them a message directly from Your heart. I see how this applies to us even now, as there are countless souls around us who are lost and in bondage—perhaps not in a physical sense, but in the bondage of sin, despair, and hopelessness. Help me to remember that I am called to engage with these individuals, to reach out to them with Your love and truth, regardless of their receptivity.
Father, grant me the boldness of Ezekiel as I go forth to share Your message. In a world that often rejects Your truth, it is all too easy to retreat into silence and complacency. Yet, Your Word encourages me to engage—to speak up and step out in faith. Give me the courage to overcome the fear of rejection and the anxiety that may come from sharing a message that many may choose to ignore. Let Your Spirit empower me, just as You empowered Ezekiel, to deliver Your truth with grace and clarity.
As I approach those who are captive—whether they be friends, family, neighbors, or strangers—help me to do so with tenderness and compassion. Let me remember that they are not merely targets for conversion, but precious souls created in Your image. Allow me to see them through Your eyes, recognizing their struggles, their pain, and their need for the hope that only You can provide.
Lord, I pray for wisdom and discernment in my conversations. May my words be a reflection of Your love and mercy. Teach me to listen as much as I speak; to understand their needs and to respond with empathy. Let the very essence of Your truth, Your care, and Your genuine love permeate every interaction I have with them. I pray that my heart would be sincere and that I would be an authentic representative of who You are.
Help me to remember that the outcome is not in my hands; I am called to be faithful to deliver Your message, regardless of whether they will hear or whether they will forbear. Give me peace in the knowledge that Your Word will not return void, but will accomplish what You desire. I entrust the results to You, knowing that You are sovereign and that You are at work in the hearts of men.
Lord, I also pray for those who are currently in captivity, whether it be physically, spiritually, or emotionally. I ask that You soften their hearts and open their ears to hear the truth of the Gospel. Bring mentors and messengers into their lives—people who can minister to them, encourage them, and lead them to the realization that You are the answer they have been searching for.
In closing, I commit my ministry of reconciliation into Your hands. May I be diligent and faithful in sharing Your message. I long to see Your people come out of captivity and into the freedom of Your embrace. Thank You, Lord, for the privilege of serving You and for trusting me to carry Your light into the darkness.
In Jesus’ Name, I pray,
Amen.
