A Prayer for Spiritual Vision and Discernment
"¶ Then said he unto me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man? turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations than these." - Ezekiel 8:15

Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today with a humble heart, seeking Your guidance and discernment. In the words of Ezekiel 8:15, "Then said he unto me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man? turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations than these." Lord, we recognize the importance of seeing and understanding the reality around us. We find ourselves living in a world filled with darkness and depravity, a place where many have turned their backs on You and Your ways. We seek a deeper vision, an insight that only You can provide, to see not just the surface but the fullness of what is taking place in the hearts of man and in our societies.
Father, as we reflect on this scripture, we acknowledge our need for spiritual insight. You called Ezekiel to witness the abominations committed against You, and yet You urged him to look deeper. Lord, may we also be willing to turn again and examine the state of our hearts, our communities, and our world. Help us to see the truth that lies beneath the surface, to not shy away from the uncomfortable realities that exist around us.
We pray for a spirit of discernment, O God. Open our eyes, that we may not only observe the injustices and sins that are prevalent, but also understand their implications. Let us see the effects of sin upon individuals and the rippling consequences that extend into families, communities, and nations. May we never become complacent or indifferent to the suffering caused by the abandonment of Your ways.
Lord, we recognize that even as we seek to see the greater abominations, we must also examine our own lives. Show us, Father, any areas where we fall short of Your glory. Help us to confront the uncomfortable truths about ourselves and to repent where necessary. We understand that the abominations that grieve Your heart may sometimes infiltrate our own thoughts, actions, and attitudes, often without us recognizing them. So, we lay ourselves bare before You, asking that You reveal to us those dark corners of our hearts and lives that need Your light.
As we turn our gaze outward, may we also empower us to take action against the abominations we witness in the world. May we not merely be spectators but active participants in bringing Your light into dark places. Equip us with compassion and courage to speak out against injustice and to act with love in the face of hatred. Let us be Your hands and feet, bringing hope and healing to the broken and oppressed.
In this desire for transformation, we also pray for those around us. Help us to extend Your grace to others, even to those who perpetrate the very abominations that distress our spirits. Remind us of the depth of Your mercy and the capacity for change within every heart. May we engage in prayer for the lost and the wayward, believing that You are capable of turning the most hardened hearts towards You.
Almighty God, as we seek to see beyond our present knowledge and understanding, fill us with Your Holy Spirit. Teach us to depend on You for wisdom and revelation. Allow us to immerse ourselves in Your Word, which guides our actions and sharpens our discernment. May we always be vigilant and aware of the trials and tribulations around us while remaining anchored in hope and faith in You.
Ultimately, Lord, we desire to glorify Your name. We want to see, so we can act; we want to witness the abominations so we can surrender them to You, trusting that Your power can restore and redeem. May our journey of seeing the greater abominations lead us ever closer to Your heart, where love, justice, and mercy reign supreme.
Thank You, Father, for Your unwavering love and for the promise of Your presence. May we always seek to follow You, turning our gaze towards Your face and Your truth. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
