A Prayer of Thankfulness for Creation
"And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day." - Genesis 1:31

O Almighty Creator,
As I come before You in this moment of quiet reflection and reverence, I am reminded of the majestic words from Genesis 1:31, where it is written, "And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day." These words echo through the corridors of time, calling me to appreciate the splendor of Your creation and the intricate beauty that unfolds before my eyes.
Lord, I thank You for the gift of this world that You have fashioned with such artistry and intention. Every sunrise that paints the sky with hues of orange and gold, every rustling leaf that dances in the wind, and every creature that scurries across the earth is a testament to Your greatness. You, who spoke the universe into existence, who separated light from darkness and formed the mountains and seas, are deserving of all my praise and adoration.
In this moment, as I reflect on the truth that everything You made is very good, help me to cultivate a heart of gratitude. May I never take for granted the air that fills my lungs, the nourishment that sustains me, or the relationships that enrich my life. Teach me to see the goodness in every moment, to recognize the fingerprints of Your love in both the grand and mundane aspects of life. As I walk through this world, may I find joy in the ordinary and celebrate the extraordinary beauty that surrounds me daily.
Father, I acknowledge with deep humility that I am part of this extraordinary creation—a piece of Your divine plan. Help me to embrace the identity You’ve bestowed upon me as Your beloved child, crafted in Your image. I am fearfully and wonderfully made, and for that, I am profoundly grateful. Yet, with this knowledge comes responsibility; help me to honor this gift of life by being a steward of the earth, treating Your creation with reverence and care.
Grant me the wisdom to see the interconnectedness of all living things. In Your wisdom, You have woven a tapestry of life that includes every creature, every plant, and every person. Teach me to walk gently upon this earth, to recognize the sacredness of all life, and to advocate for those who cannot speak for themselves. May I protect the environment, embrace sustainable practices, and promote harmony among all living beings, echoing the very good that You declared over creation.
As I consider the end of the sixth day, I am reminded of the moments in my own life when I have experienced the fullness of Your creation. The laughter of friends gathered in love, the quiet moments spent in nature, and the opportunities to serve others in kindness—these are glimpses of heaven on earth. Help me to create more of these moments, to be an agent of Your goodness in the world, where I can reflect Your love through my actions, my words, and my very presence.
In times of doubt, when my heart feels burdened by the chaos surrounding me, anchor me in the truth of Your Word. Remind me that despite the darkness that sometimes obscures the goodness in the world, Your light is ever-present, and Your creation remains very good. Instill in me a spirit of hope, resilience, and faith as I navigate the challenges of life. Let me always look to You as the source of my strength.
Thank You, Lord, for seeing everything You have made, and calling it very good. May I join in this affirmation, declaring with my own heart and soul that indeed, every facet of creation resonates with Your goodness. I pray that my life will increasingly reflect the truth that You delight in Your handiwork and that through me, others may come to recognize the beauty of Your creation and the love of their Creator.
In the precious name of Jesus, I pray,
Amen.
