A Prayer for Divine Guidance and Leadership
"Then came forth unto him Eliakim, Hilkiah's son, which was over the house, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, Asaph's son, the recorder." - Isaiah 36:3

O Sovereign Lord,
We come before You today in humility and reverence, acknowledging Your infinite wisdom, power, and authority over our lives and the world around us. As we reflect upon the verse from Isaiah 36:3—"Then came forth unto him Eliakim, Hilkiah's son, which was over the house, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, Asaph's son, the recorder"—we recognize the significance of leadership and the roles that You have appointed for us in the various facets of our lives.
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the examples set by those faithful leaders, Eliakim, Shebna, and Joah. These men, entrusted with critical responsibilities within the kingdom, remind us that true leadership requires not only authority but also a deep commitment to serve others. Lord, help us to emulate their dedication to Your will and their commitment to honoring You in all that they do. May we always recognize that every position we hold is ultimately a service to You and to those around us.
God of All Wisdom, we pray for the leaders in our lives and in our communities. Just as Eliakim was over the house, Lord, we pray for those in authority over us, whether in our families, our workplaces, or our nations. Grant them the wisdom to lead with integrity, the courage to stand for what is right, and the compassion to understand the needs of those they serve. Replace fear with faith and ignorance with knowledge, so they may lead us not by their own understanding, but by the guidance of Your holy spirit.
Lord Jesus, You called upon Your disciples to serve rather than to be served. Provide us with hearts that are willing to serve our communities with sincerity and love. Let our motivations be pure, echoing the spirit of Eliakim, Shebna, and Joah, who were gathered together in purpose and mission. Help us to collaborate in unity, valuing each person's contribution, and recognizing that each of us has a role to play in the divine orchestration of Your plan.
Holy Spirit, we ask that You instill in us a sense of responsibility towards our leadership roles, however grand or humble they may be. Whether we find ourselves leading a family, a team at work, or being a voice within our community, let us always act with fairness, foresight, and a strong sense of justice. Help us to remember the power of our words and actions, just as Shebna's scribe served as a chronicler of the events unfolding in the kingdom.
Gracious Father, we acknowledge that leadership also requires vulnerability. In the face of challenges, leaders can feel overwhelmed and unsure of the right path to take. We pray that in these moments, You will bring comfort and clarity, granting them the discernment necessary to lead with confidence, rooted in Your Word. Shine a light on their decisions, guiding them away from paths that lead to division or discord.
Lord, in times of crisis and uncertainty, remind us of the importance of community and collaboration. Just as these three men came forth together, we too are stronger when we unite in purpose. Bind us together in harmony, Lord, so that we may encourage one another and build each other up, standing firm in faith as You direct our paths.
As we seek Your wisdom and guidance, let us also be open to correction and growth. Teach us to listen, to be humble, and to strive for improvement in our abilities to lead others. May we be conduits of Your love, grace, and peace in every situation we encounter.
We ask all of these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our ultimate Leader and Example. Amen.
