O Sovereign Lord, Creator of Heaven and Earth, who sits sovereignly upon the throne of grace and judgment, we bow our hearts before You in earnest reflection of the weighty words found in Jeremiah 48:26. Your Word speaks compelling truths that resonate within our souls. The verse proclaims, "Make ye him drunken: for he magnified himself against the LORD: Moab also shall wallow in his vomit, and he also shall be in derision." With this verse, we are reminded of the dangerous pride that so easily besets us; a pride that leads to rebellion against Your divine authority.

Lord, as we contemplate the fate of Moab, we recognize that we are all susceptible to the same arrogance that alienated them from Your favor. We seek Your forgiveness for times when we have magnified ourselves instead of magnifying Your holy name. In our ambition and self-reliance, we have sometimes resorted to our understanding rather than leaning on Your word. Forgive us, O God, for our forgetfulness of Your greatness, and for the inclination to elevate our desires above Your will.

Hear us, O God, as we seek humility in a world that encourages self-aggrandizement. Help us not to create an image of ourselves that stands in opposition to Your truth. Teach us the virtue of surrender and the beauty that comes in recognizing that we are nothing apart from You. We ask that Your spirit might soften our hearts, keeping us from being drunken with pride or desires for recognition. We seek a heart that finds its joy in serving You, rather than in receiving accolades from others.

In Your infinite wisdom, You granted to Moab a time of reckoning due to their arrogance and disdain for You. We pray, dear Lord, that we would take heed of Your judgments as written through Your prophets. May we not find ourselves in a position where we are also led to wallow in our spiritual vomit—where our sins become a burden that drags us down into despair.

Lord, we lift our voices for those in our lives who may presently mock Your laws and raise their voices against Your greatness. We pray for those who, like Moab, think they can walk this life without Your guidance and who elevate their own wisdom over Your divine will. Open their eyes to see the truth that no one withstands Your righteous judgment.
