A Prayer for Humility and Justice

"Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place." - Job 40:12

"Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place." - Job 40:{verse.verse_number}

O Sovereign Lord, Creator of the heavens and the earth, we come before You this day, our hearts filled with reverence and humility. We acknowledge Your supreme authority and the holiness of Your name. As we reflect on the words of Job 40:12, where it is written, "Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place," we seek Your divine intervention in our lives and in the world around us.

Heavenly Father, we know that pride is an abomination in Your sight. It is a destructive force that leads to division and strife. We confess the pride that lurks within our own hearts, the pride that blinds us to our weaknesses and causes us to elevate ourselves above others. Forgive us, Lord, for the times we have allowed our egos to overshadow our compassion. Help us to cultivate a spirit of humility, to recognize that all we have is a gift from You, and that we are but stewards of Your grace.

Lord Jesus, we ask that You take notice of every proud heart that defies Your commandments and spreads discord among Your creation. With Your mighty hand, we request that You bring low those who exalt themselves, those who think they are invincible and immune to the consequences of their actions. You have promised that the proud will be humbled, and we trust in Your promise, this day more than ever. Let Your justice reign in every heart and household. May those who are self-righteous encounter the true measure of humility in their lives, so they can turn from their ways and seek Your face.

As we look around us, we see the wicked flourishing, their deceit and malice unrelenting. We ask You, Lord, to tread down the wicked in their place. Your Word reminds us that You are a God of justice. Help us to understand that although the wicked may seem to prosper for a time, Your perfect justice will inevitably prevail. We pray that those who thrive on causing harm and sowing despair become aware of their actions and surrender to Your will. May they experience the weight of their sin, and may it lead them to repentance before it is too late.

God of Justice, we know that You possess the wisdom to judge righteously. Teach us to be patient and discerning as we witness the injustices of this world. Strengthen us to be instruments of Your peace and truth, voicing the plight of the oppressed, the brokenhearted, and the downtrodden. Inspire us to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with You always, as You require of us according to Your Word.

Father, we pray fiercely against the forces of pride and wickedness both within our communities and on a global scale. We are distressed by the turmoil that constitutes so much of our reality—the greed, corruption, and selfish ambitions that lead nations to war and families to despair. Lord, send down Your Spirit to stir within those in power the conviction to rule with integrity and justness. May You change the hearts of leaders who exploit their positions and replace them with those who fear You and uphold the cause of the weak.

As we come together in prayer today, may we feel Your presence among us. Remind us that we are all in need of Your grace and mercy. Encourage us to pursue righteousness and humility as we seek to combat the pride and wickedness in our own lives and in the world. May we be ever mindful of the ultimate authority that You hold and rest in the assurance that in Your time, every proud heart will be brought low, and justice shall roll down like waters.

In the holy name of Jesus, who humbled Himself for our sake, we pray. Amen.
