A Prayer for Greater Works in Christ

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father." - John 14:12

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father." - John 14:{verse.verse_number}

Heavenly Father, as I come before You today, I am filled with awe and gratitude for Your unfathomable love and grace that You have poured out upon us through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Lord, our hearts are humbled when we pause to reflect on the significant words spoken by our Savior, as recorded in the Gospel of John 14:12, where He proclaimed, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father."

Father, I stand in wonder at this profound promise. Jesus, You have called us to believe in You, and this belief is not merely an intellectual ascent but a deep-rooted trust that spur actions and transformations in our lives and in the lives of those around us. Lord, help me to cultivate this belief within me so that I may wholeheartedly embrace the calling You have placed on my life. May I not only believe in Your works but also become a vessel through which Your works are manifested to the world.

I ask for the empowerment of your Holy Spirit within me, Lord, to pursue the works that Jesus did while He walked this earth. I pray that I may heal the sick, comfort the broken-hearted, feed the hungry, and bring Your light into darkness. Teach me to love like You, Jesus; to extend grace and mercy to those who are lost; to forgive as You have forgiven me; and to serve selflessly without seeking recognition.

Your Word, O God, stirs in me a yearning to do greater works, as Jesus promised. As I meditate on this promise, I find both excitement and trepidation. Greater works require a willingness to step outside my comfort zone, giving rise to both challenges and opportunities for Your name to be glorified. Strengthen my resolve, dear Father, to embrace this challenge. Let me not shy away from the trials that may arise as I strive to obey Your calling. May I remember that true strength comes not from my own abilities, but through my reliance on You and Your mighty power.

O Lord, give me a heart that is willing to listen and obey. Help me to see the world through the eyes of Your compassion and mercy. Use me as an instrument of healing, reconciliation, and hope. May my life reflect the love of Christ, and may my actions mirror His, even in small ways. For I know that every act of kindness, every word of encouragement, and every moment of service can open doors for greater works that lead others to You.

I pray for the Church worldwide, that we may rise up in unity and strength, fully grasping the significance of our calling to continue Jesus’ mission. May we not become stagnant or complacent but rather be ignited by the hope of doing greater works. Fill us with Your Spirit, ignite our hearts with passion, and grant us wisdom to discern opportunities to minister to the lost and broken in our communities. Let our unity in purpose magnify Your glory and enable us to reach those who are far from You.

Lord, I acknowledge that sometimes I am limited by doubt and fear. I ask that You would break those chains of apprehension and replace them with steadfast faith. Help me to trust in Your promises, knowing that because Christ has ascended to You, He has equipped me with all the resources necessary to carry forth His mission in the world.

I express my deepest gratitude for the privilege to partner with You in these greater works, knowing it is not through my strength but through the power of Christ at work in me. May I carry this promise with me daily, constantly seeking opportunities to bring forth Your kingdom on this earth.

In Jesus’ mighty name, I pray.

Amen.
