A Prayer for Unity and Protection in Christ
"And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are." - John 17:11

Heavenly Father, we come before You today, humbly seeking Your presence and grace as we meditate on the powerful words spoken by Your Son, Jesus Christ. In John 17:11, we hear our Savior’s plea: "And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are." Lord, we recognize the depth of this request, the urgency of His desire, and the significance of unity in Your kingdom.
Lord, we acknowledge that Christ, in His time on earth, faced the trials of this world and understood the weight of temptation and division that may tear at the hearts of believers. In His farewell prayer, He bears His soul for those You have called to Himself. We are reminded that though we are in the world, we are not of it. We are called to a higher purpose, one that seeks to glorify Your name and be a beacon of Your light in the darkness.
Father, as we reflect on our lives and our relationships, we ask that You keep us through Your own name. In a world rife with division, we plead for Your divine protection over our hearts, minds, and souls. Guard us from the snares of contention, envy, and malice that seek to sow discord among us. Protect us, O Holy Father, as we strive to walk in love, unity, and harmony with one another. May our lives reflect the oneness that is exemplified in the relationship between Jesus and Yourself.
We lift up to You, dear Lord, those whom You have entrusted to us — our family, friends, congregations, and communities. We pray that each one is kept safe in Your embrace. Help us to remember that each person we encounter is a member of the body of Christ, and as such, deserves our love, respect, and commitment to unity. May we strive to recognize the beauty in our differences as enhancements to our collective worship of You rather than roadblocks to our fellowship.
In a world where fear and division threaten to overwhelm us, remind us of our calling as Your children. Instill in us a spirit of love and a commitment to treat one another as brothers and sisters in Christ. Let the peace of Christ flow through us, binding us together with cords of love. Help us to bear one another’s burdens and rejoice in one another’s victories. Lead us away from self-centeredness and towards a heart that seeks the good of others.
Lord, we also pray for the global body of Christ. From every corner of the earth, may Your people rise up in unity, proclaiming the profound truth of the Gospel without losing sight of our shared mission. Equip us to stand firm against the ideologies and practices that seek to divide us. Let our differences—cultural, ethnic, or denominational—be celebrated in the context of Your great love and plan for all humanity.
Help us to fulfill the words of Christ so that the world may see that we are His disciples by the love we show one another. In our churches, our families, and our workplaces, may we continuously seek opportunities for reconciliation and harmony.
Lastly, dear Father, we look forward to the day when we will be fully united with You and each other in eternal glory. Until that day, may we remain steadfast in prayer, devoted to Your Word, and committed to the cause of unity. Help us to be diligent in fostering an atmosphere of love that points to the grace we have received through Jesus Christ. We ask all these things in the precious name of Your Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
