As we come before You today, we humbly acknowledge Your supreme authority and wisdom. Father, we also bring before You the troubling example of Balaam, who ran greedily after reward. In a world overwhelmed by the lure of material gain and worldly success, we seek refuge in Your eternal promise. Help us, Lord, to remember that true wealth is in You and in serving others, not in the transient pleasures of this life. Strengthen us to discern the difference between rightful desires and greedy ambition. May we always seek to use our gifts for Your glory rather than our gain. Give us wisdom to avoid the pitfalls of Balaam’s error, that we may find fulfillment in obedience to You rather than succumbing to the temptations of the world.
And finally, our hearts feel the weight of the rebellion represented in the gainsaying of Core. Lord, we see a culture that often prizes rebellion over humility, and we recognize how easy it is to join the chorus of dissent. But we come before You, pleading for a spirit of submission and reverence. Teach us to respect Your ordained authority in our lives and in the church. Help us to be individuals who build up rather than tear down, who honor rather than criticize. In this age of divisiveness, let us be peacemakers, embodying the message of Your Kingdom.
We cry out for our communities, our families, and our hearts. We long to be Your vessels, instruments of Your righteousness amidst the chaos and confusion. May we, Lord, be alert and aware, refusing the paths of Cain, Balaam, and Core. Instead, grant us the strength to pursue holiness, righteousness, and humility.
