A Prayer for Purification and Divine Encounter
"And he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from off the altar before the LORD, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the vail:" - Leviticus 16:12

Heavenly Father,
In the stillness of this moment, I come before Thee with reverence and awe, acknowledging Thy infinite holiness and power. I humbly seek to draw near to Thy presence, following the sacred practices laid forth in Thy Word. As it is written in Leviticus 16:12, "And he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from off the altar before the LORD, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the vail:"
Lord, as the priest approached the altar with burning coals and sweet incense, so I too desire to approach Thy holy throne, craving Thy holiness to envelop me and purge me from my sin. I come, not with their physical elements, but with the offerings of a contrite heart and a spirit ready to be transformed. Let my prayers rise as incense before Thee, sweet and pleasing in Thy sight.
Father, Thou art the God who sanctifies. Just as the altar is a sacred space, I ask that You prepare my heart as a sanctuary for Thy Spirit. Cleanse me from all iniquity; remove from me anything that would hinder my fellowship with Thee. I confess my shortcomings, my fears, and the weights that keep me from truly entering into communion with Thee. Help me cast aside my burdens and distractions as I seek Thy face, for I desire to stand in Thy presence, surrounded by Thy love and grace.
As I picture the censer filled with burning coals, I am reminded of the fire of the Holy Spirit that purifies us. Lord, ignite that fire within me! Let me feel the warmth of Your holy flames burning away the dross of my soul. May the heat of Your presence refine me, drawing out impurities and awakening in me a passionate love for righteousness. I seek the fire that sets hearts ablaze, the fire that ignites a desire for holiness and fervent prayer. Grant me, O Lord, a heart that seeks after Thee, relentless in pursuit of Your presence.
And as my incense rises, Lord, may it be infused with the fragrances of love, humility, and praise. Help me to cultivate the sweet aroma of a life wholly surrendered to You. Teach me to labor in the quiet places of prayer, knowing that every cry of my heart and every whispered plea is heard by You—the God who sees and knows all. Let the fragrance of my faithfulness fill the air and reach Your ears, drawing me ever closer into the intimate spaces of Your heart.
Lord, bring me within the veil, that sacred boundary that separates the ordinary from the extraordinary. Enable me to step into the deeper realms of Your love, where every lie of the enemy is silenced and Your truth reigns supreme. I desire to dwell in that secret place, where Your voice resonates louder than the chaos of this world. It is there that I find my true self, untouched by the plagues of insecurity and doubt.
May my encounters with You transform me, Lord. Just as the priest emerged from the presence of the Lord, may I also be a carrier of Your glory. Let my life be a testament to Your mercy, a beacon of hope to those who dwell in darkness. Help me to share the sweetness of Your presence with all I encounter, leading them to seek after the same divine communion that I crave.
Lastly, I pray for the power of the incense to blanket our world. Infuse our lives, our homes, and our communities with the sweetness of Your mercy and grace. May the fire from Your altar ignite souls, sparking revival and restoration in places of despair.
Thank You, Heavenly Father, for the privilege to draw near; may my offerings be a reflection of my love for You. In the Almighty Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
