A Prayer of Dedication and Purification
"But he shall wash the inwards and the legs with water: and the priest shall bring it all, and burn it upon the altar: it is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD." - Leviticus 1:13

O Holy Lord, our Heavenly Father, the Source of all righteousness, I come before You with a humble heart, acknowledging Your greatness and majesty. Your Word tells us, in Leviticus 1:13: "But he shall wash the inwards and the legs with water: and the priest shall bring it all, and burn it upon the altar: it is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD." O Lord, as we reflect upon this sacred passage, we are reminded of the profound significance of purification and dedication in our relationship with You.
Lord, we stand in awe of the detailed instructions You provided to the priests regarding the sacrifices. Just as the priests were required to wash the inwards and legs with water, we recognize that there is a necessary cleansing in our lives, a washing of our hearts and souls, that must take place before we can present ourselves as living sacrifices unto You.
Help us, Father, to seek Your cleansing waters in our daily lives. Purify our thoughts, our intentions, and our actions. Wash away the impurities that cling to us—those resentments, fears, and doubts that cloud our relationship with You. Just as the priests had to perform the ceremonial washings, let us be diligent in seeking the spiritual cleansing that comes from sincere confession and repentance. Teach us to come before You with contrite hearts, ready to lay down our burdens and receive Your mercy.
As we wash our inwards, help us understand the importance of our inner beings. May our hearts be aligned with Your will, and may our motives reflect Your love rather than our own desires. In a world so full of chaos and distractions, remind us to focus on the purity of spirit and truth that You so desire from us. Let our hearts be a sanctuary for Your presence, where only that which is of You can dwell.
And when we wash our legs, Father, remind us that the journey we walk is as important as the purity within. Guide our steps along paths of righteousness, and help us to tread carefully, mindful of the impact our walk has on those around us. May our actions reflect Jesus' teachings, and may our lives be a testament to Your grace, drawing others closer to You.
O Lord, we are grateful for the great sacrifice You made for us. Just as the priest would bring the entire offering to the altar, we present our lives before You. We desire to be wholly Yours, each day a living sacrifice, dedicated to glorifying Your name. We thank You for the ultimate gift of Jesus Christ, our Sacrifice, who fulfilled all that was required for our atonement. In light of His love and sacrifice, may we also be willing to surrender all that we are to You, trusting that You will use us according to Your purpose.
As we place our offerings upon the altar, let us be reminded of the fragrance of our offerings as a sweet savour to You, dear Lord. Help us to live lives that are pleasing in Your sight—each prayer, word, and deed becoming a fragrant offering. May our devotion and acts of service bring glory to Your name, resonating as a sweet melody in Your ears.
We ask for a renewed heart, Lord, one that seeks after You in every moment. Teach us to cultivate a spirit of sacrifice, not just in appearance but in our very lives, reflecting the heart of the Gospel in our interactions with others.
In the name of Jesus, our High Priest, we pray. Amen.
