A Prayer of Purification and Devotion
"And he did wash the inwards and the legs, and burnt them upon the burnt offering on the altar." - Leviticus 9:14

O Great and Mighty God, Creator of the heavens and the earth, I come before You with a heart full of humility and reverence. As I meditate upon Your Word today, specifically Leviticus 9:14, I am reminded of the sacredness of the offerings that were made unto You, and the meticulous care that was required in their preparation. "And he did wash the inwards and the legs, and burnt them upon the burnt offering on the altar." Lord, let these words penetrate my heart and transform my understanding of holiness, purification, and dedicated worship.
Father, I recognize that in the context of the Old Covenant, the washing of the inwards and the legs signifies the importance of cleansing and preparing oneself to come into Your presence. Just as the priests were called to purify the sacrifices they brought to the altar, I too seek purification in my own life. Wash away my iniquities, O Lord, and cleanse me from all unrighteousness. I acknowledge that I have fallen short of Your glory, yet I am so grateful for the blood of Christ that continually cleanses me from sin.
Lord, I fervently desire to be a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to You. Just as the inwards and legs were washed, I ask You to cleanse my heart. Purify my thoughts, intentions, and desires. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me (Psalm 51:10). Help me to cast away every distraction and sin that entangles me so that I might run the race with perseverance, fixing my eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of my faith (Hebrews 12:1-2).
As I reflect on the act of burning the sacrifices upon the altar, I am reminded of the complete surrender that is required in my walk with You. To burn a sacrifice signifies total dedication. Teach me what it means to surrender my life wholly unto You, to let go of my own ambitions and aspirations, and to seek Your will above all. Help me to see the beauty in being a burnt offering on Your altar, as it symbolizes a life poured out in love and obedience.
Let every aspect of my life reflect a desire to serve You, O Lord. Whether I am at work, at home, or in my community, may I always strive to live as an offering before You. Help me, Lord, to avoid the pitfalls of pride, selfishness, and negativity which can taint my spirit. Rather, let me embody the compassion, grace, and love that You have so freely given to me.
I pray, dear Father, that as I immerse myself in Your Word and the teachings of the Holy Scriptures, like the priests of old, I may be thoroughly equipped to offer genuine worship that pleases You. I desire that my life would be a testimony of Your greatness and mercy.
May I, too, be vigilant in washing the inwards of my soul, confronting the issues that dwell deep within my heart. Give me the courage to face my fears and doubts, to confront my past, and to embrace your restoration. As I lay bare the depths of my soul before You, bring forth the healing that only You can provide.
I thank You, Lord, that through Christ, I can approach the altar without fear, for He has made the way clear. Help me to never take for granted the privilege I have to come into Your presence. May I always remember the significance of the cleansing and the offering as a reminder of the sacrificial love You poured out upon us through Your Son.
In the name of Jesus, I pray, trusting in Your faithfulness to cleanse, heal, and draw me closer to You. Amen.
