A Prayer for Wisdom in Abundance
"And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods." - Luke 12:18

O Heavenly Father,
In the quietness of this moment, I come before You, humbly seeking Your guidance and wisdom in all aspects of my life. As I meditate upon Your Word, particularly the words spoken in Luke 12:18, ‘And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods,’ I am reminded of the temptations and trials that accompany prosperity and the pursuit of abundance.
Lord, in a world that often equates success with accumulation, help me to remember the true purpose of the blessings You bestow upon me. As I reflect on the parable of the rich fool, may I not gather for my own selfish pleasures but rather seek to honor You with all that I have. Teach me to pull down my spiritual barns, which may have become stagnant in their purpose, and instead build greater foundations rooted in humility and generosity.
Enable me, O Lord, to see beyond the confines of mere material wealth. Just as the rich man plotted to store his goods for himself, help me avoid the snare of greed and self-indulgence. Instead, as I build greater barns, let them be receptacles of love, kindness, and service to others. In this, may I become a vessel of Your grace, sharing the fruits of my labor not only within my own circle but also extending beyond to all in need.
Father, grant me the foresight to understand that life’s riches are transient, and that the abundance I receive is not solely for my enjoyment but rather for the advancement of Your Kingdom. As I gather my fruits and goods, remind me that they hold greater value when shared with those who are less fortunate. Help me cultivate a heart of generosity, that I may not only provide for my own needs and those of my family but also reach out to the marginalized, the hurting, and the lost.
Lord, give me wisdom in my pursuits. Help me discern between what is truly necessary and what is merely a desire that could lead to excess. Just as the rich man thought he was secure in his barns, remind me that true security is found in You, Father, and that I must not place my trust in the fragility of earthly possessions. Instead, let my trust be anchored in Your everlasting promises and Your infinite love.
As I plan and strive for more, guide my intentions and aspirations. May I be aware of the responsibilities that come with abundance and that I may be a steward of Your resources. I ask for insight into using what I have been given to make a transformative impact, to bring healing and hope into a world that is often broken and desperate.
O Lord, let this prayer echo in my heart when the allure of self-sufficiency calls to me, reminding me that fulfillment is not found in having more but in giving more of myself to others. Let me be like the streams that flow with generosity, nourishing the soil of those around me, and producing seeds of hope, love, and kindness.
In closing, I present my plans and dreams to You, trusting that You will shape them according to Your will. May any effort I put forth, be it in hoarding or in building, always reflect Your love and grace. And as I embark on this journey of abundance, let me always remember the ultimate harvest is about gathering souls into Your Kingdom.
In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray,
Amen.
