"I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee," - Luke 15:18

Dear Heavenly Father,

As I come before You, I am reminded of the words of Your servant in Luke 15:18, where he declared, "I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee." Lord, it is with a heart full of humility and a spirit seeking Your forgiveness that I kneel before You today. I acknowledge my shortcomings and the times I have strayed from Your loving embrace, and I long to return to You, my Father.

Oh, how often I have wandered away from the path You have set before me! In moments of temptation and trials, I have made choices that have brought sorrow not only to myself but have grieved Your heart as well. Your word reminds me that sin separates me from You, and I am deeply aware of the distance my actions have created between us. I confess that I have, at times, chosen my desires over Your will, and I ask for Your immense mercy to cover my transgressions.

In my heart, I have resolved to arise and come back to You, Father. I reach out to You now, knowing that You are faithful to forgive and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness because of the sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus Christ. It is through His precious blood that I find hope, knowing that no matter how far I have fallen, there is always a way back to Your loving arms.

As I rise to meet You, help me to fully acknowledge my sins, both great and small. Let my confession be sincere and real. I want to say unto You, "Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee." I recognize how my actions have not only offended You, but have also marred my relationships with others, and I commit to making amends wherever possible. Lord, help me to walk in truth and integrity, so that I may shine Your light in the world.

May my return to You be marked by true repentance. I long for Your Spirit to cleanse me from within and to renew my mind and heart. I want to turn away from my old ways and embrace the new life that You have for me. Help me to see the beauty of Your forgiveness and the joy that comes from being reconciled to You. Teach me how to walk in a manner that pleases You, and remind me daily of Your grace that sustains me.

Father, I also ask for Your strength as I take this step of faith. The journey of returning to You may not be easy, and I know there will be challenges along the way. Protect me from the whispers of doubt and condemnation that try to pull me back into despair. Instead, fill my heart with confidence, knowing that in You, I am a new creation.

Lord, as I seek to arise and go to You, I am reminded of the father in the parable who awaited his son’s return with open arms. I thank You that You are that father, willing to embrace me once again, celebrating my return. Help me to embrace Your love and acceptance without allowing guilt or shame to hold me back. Let my heart echo with the truth of Your unconditional love that welcomes home the wayward soul.

In closing, I pray that my journey back to You will transform my life, that I might be a vessel of Your glory and mercy to others. Teach me to love as You love, forgive as You forgive, and live as You intend for me to live. Thank You, Father, for giving me this opportunity for redemption. Thank You for Your unending grace. In Jesus’ holy name, I pray, Amen.

"I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you, and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants." ' And he arose and came to his father. And the son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son.' And bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry; for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' And they began to be merry." - Luke 15:18-24
