Morning Devotion: A Prayer for Seeking God’s Presence
"And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, for to hear him." - Luke 21:38

Heavenly Father,
As dawn breaks and the first light scatters the darkness, I come before You with a heart full of gratitude and anticipation, reflecting on the words of Luke 21:38, where it is written: "And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, for to hear him." Lord, just as those early seekers gathered in the temple to hear from You, I long to come into Your presence with the same eagerness, longing to hear Your voice and be nourished by Your Word.
I give You thanks for the gift of a new day, for the breath in my lungs, and for the ability to rise early in the morning. I recognize that, like those who flocked to You in the temple, I have a choice to make each day—to prioritize my relationship with You above all the distractions that vie for my attention.
In a world filled with noise and chaos, I humbly ask that You grant me the desire to seek You first, just as those seekers did. May I be drawn into Your goodness and mercy each morning, ready to receive what You have for me. I pray for a heart that yearns for Your presence and an eagerness to learn from You, Lord. Help me to cultivate a longing for spiritual nourishment, so that I, too, may be among those who rise early to be filled by Your truth.
Father, as I come before You today, I ask for a spirit of humility and reverence. Teach me to approach Your throne with awe, recognizing the magnitude of Who You are. Let my heart be still and receptive as I wait for Your directions. Just as the people gathered in the temple, eager to absorb Your teachings, help me to create space in my life to hear You clearly.
Lord, I acknowledge that the world has a way of pulling me away from You. It’s easy to get lost in the hustle of daily life, to let the demands of work, family, and social obligations distract me from what is most important—my relationship with You. I ask for Your help in pruning away these distractions. Guide me to set aside the things that do not matter, to make time for what truly brings life and hope: Your Word.
I pray today for the power of Your Holy Spirit to ignite a fire within me that compels me to seek You every morning, to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, knowing that all other things will be added unto me (Matthew 6:33). Let Your voice be the first I hear each day, leading me on paths of righteousness for Your name's sake (Psalm 23:3).
As I think of those gathered in the temple, I pray for all believers around the world—we are all in need of Your wisdom and grace for the challenges we face. Strengthen us to rise and seek You together, to encourage one another as iron sharpens iron (Proverbs 27:17). May we be a community that transforms the world through our devotion to You.
Lord, I lay my worries, my fears, and my burdens at Your feet this morning. I trust that by coming to You, You will provide answers and peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Fill my heart with joy and purpose, reminding me that each day is a gift from You.
Thank You, Lord, for the privilege of knowing You, for hearing my prayers, and for the promise of Your Word that we will find You when we seek You with all our hearts (Jeremiah 29:13). May my life, reflective of Your love and grace, draw others to You, inspiring them to seek You each morning as well.
In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray,
Amen.
