A Prayer for Divine Invitation and Preparation

"And ye shall say unto the goodman of the house, The Master saith unto thee, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?" - Luke 22:11

"And ye shall say unto the goodman of the house, The Master saith unto thee, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?" - Luke 22:{verse.verse_number}

Heavenly Father,

As I approach Your throne of grace today, I am humbled by Your power and majesty. You, the God of the universe, who orchestrates every heartbeat, and who knows the number of hairs on my head, have revealed Yourself to us in profound and mysterious ways. In this moment, I reflect on the words of our Lord Jesus, as recorded in Luke 22:11: "And ye shall say unto the goodman of the house, The Master saith unto thee, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?"

Oh Lord, what a beautiful depiction this is of Your divine invitation, a call to intimacy and communion. As I ponder upon this verse, I recognize that You desire to share in fellowship with us. You long to gather us around the table, to feast not only on bread and wine but to partake of Your very presence and the riches of Your love and wisdom.

Father, I ask that You prepare my heart to receive You fully. Just as Your Son commanded His disciples to approach the goodman of the house with Your message, I too seek to align my heart with Your will. Help me, Lord, to recognize the guestchambers of my life where I can invite You in. Show me the spaces that need Your light—those hidden places where fear, doubt, or sin may reside. Lord, cleanse me and make me a worthy dwelling for the Master.

I pray for an openness and sensitivity to Your Spirit, that I may hear Your voice calling me to the places that need reconciliation and healing. Just as the goodman responded to the request of the Master, let me be quick to respond to Your nudges and whispers. May I yield myself to be a conduit of Your grace, that I may invite others to the feast of life You’ve prepared for us.

Lord, let Your light shine brightly in the guestchambers of my heart and my circumstances. I pray that You would remove obstacles that hinder our communion. Cast away distractions that keep me from sitting at Your feet. May I make time for You in my busy days, for I know my spirit craves the sustenance that only comes from You.

Help me, Father, in my personal walk with You and with those around me. Let Your love flow through my words and actions, so that others may see and desire to join in the fellowship that I experience in You. In those moments when I feel distant, remind me of this sacred invitation to be with You, to share my burdens, and to be filled with Your joy and peace.

I also pray for my brothers and sisters in Christ. Father, may we be unified in spirit and purpose as we gather together in Your presence. Help us to recognize that we are all invited to the table, not just a select few. Let us extend this invitation to those who feel unworthy or distant. May our churches become places where the guestchambers are always open, welcoming the lost and broken to meet with the Master, just as You have welcomed us.

Thank You, Lord, for the invitation to dine with You, for the opportunity to deepen our relationship, and for the Promise of Your presence in our lives. May we always respond joyfully to Your call, ready to embrace the plans You have for us. Let us gather around the table in anticipation, as we wait on Your guidance and nourishment, grateful for the sacrifices made to ensure that we can have this communion with You.

In Jesus’ holy name, I pray,

Amen.
