A Heart of a Child: A Prayer for Humility and Faith
"Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein." - Mark 10:15

Heavenly Father,
We come before You with hearts full of reverence and gratitude for the love and grace You have bestowed upon us. As we reflect on Your divine words in Mark 10:15, where You said: “Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein,” we are reminded of the profound simplicity and purity that exists within a child’s heart.
Lord, we thank You for the example of children, whose trust and faith in the world around them is unwavering and innocent. They come to us without pretense, without the heaviness of expectations, and with a boundless curiosity to experience all the joys of life. Help us, Father, to embrace that same spirit as we approach You and Your kingdom. Teach us to lay down our adult burdens, our fears, and our doubts, and to come to You with the simplicity of a child, ready to believe and to trust.
Forgive us, O Lord, for the times we have allowed the complexities of life to overshadow our faith. In our quest for knowledge and understanding, may we not lose sight of the essence of believing in You, simply and wholeheartedly, as a child believes in the goodness of their parents. Remind us of the importance of humility, as You have called us to be humble, to fill the hearts of our spirits with faith like that of a child.
As I stand here, Father, I lay before You my uncertainties, my questions, and my need for control and understanding. I ask You to replace them with the childlike faith that You so cherish. Help me to trust in Your plan, even when it doesn’t make sense to me. Like a child running into their parent's arms, teach me to run into Your presence without fear, knowing that I am safe in Your embrace.
Lord, You invite us to experience the fullness of Your Kingdom, and I long to walk in that reality. Grant me the grace to shed my adult skepticism and cynicism. Let me approach every aspect of my faith with the awe and wonder of a child discovering the beauty of creation for the first time. Let my prayer life be filled with childlike trust, where I can pour out my heart before You without fear of judgment, understanding that You listen with love and compassion.
I pray for those around me, that we may inspire one another to embrace this childlike spirit. Help us to cultivate a community where faith flourishes, where we can uplift and encourage one another to believe deeply and fully in Your promises. May we share our testimonies of divine goodness in ways that spark the light of faith in others.
Heavenly Father, deliver us from pride, and keep us from setting ourselves above others. Help us to see every person as created in Your image, deserving of Your love and grace. Guide us to approach others with the innocence and kindness of children, cherishing every moment of connection and fellowship.
As I conclude this prayer, I ask You, Lord, to renew in me a childlike heart. Let me walk in faith, with confidence, trust, and an eagerness to experience the wonders of Your love. May my life be an embodiment of that faith, shining brightly to others and pointing them back to You.
In Jesus' name, I pray,
Amen.
