Prayer of Great Joy and Worship
"When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh." - Matthew 2:10-11

Heavenly Father,
We come before You with hearts overflowing with joy and gratitude, inspired by the wondrous events of the birth of Your Son, Jesus Christ, as recounted in Matthew 2:10-11. When the wise men saw the star, they were filled with exceeding great joy, for they recognized the significance of the journey they were on—to meet the King of Kings, the Promised Messiah, who brings salvation and hope to the world. Lord, may we, too, respond to the signs You place in our lives with such profound joy and eagerness.
We thank You, O Lord, for the light of that star that guided the magi from the East. It was not just a celestial body, but a divine beacon, illuminating the path to Your Son. How often do we overlook the guiding lights You send our way? Help us to be vigilant and attentive to Your guidance in our lives. Teach us to recognize the ‘stars’ that You position around us—those moments of divine intervention, the kind words of a friend, or the beauty of creation—that lead us closer to You. May we, like the wise men, take joy in the guiding light that points us toward the truth of Your love.
Father, just as the wise men rejoiced, help us to cultivate a spirit of joy in our journey of faith. Life can often weigh us down with worries and troubles, yet the birth of Jesus fills our heart with the reminder of the incredible joy that comes from knowing You. May we learn to rejoice not only in our triumphs but also in our tribulations, understanding that each moment offers us an opportunity to draw closer to You.
As the wise men entered the house and found the young child with Mary, they fell down and worshipped Him. Lord, let our hearts always respond in awe and reverence when we come into Your presence. Teach us to lay down our pride, our distractions, and our worries, as we approach You in worship. You are the Creator of the universe, yet You choose to come to us as a vulnerable child, and for that, we are eternally grateful. Help us to embrace our worship not just with our lips but with our hearts, surrendering all that we are at Your feet.
When they opened their treasures and presented gifts—gold, frankincense, and myrrh—let this act inspire us to offer our own treasures to You. What do we have to give, O Lord? Open our eyes to see the gifts and talents You have bestowed upon us, and may we present them to You in service and love. Whether it is our time, our talents, or our resources, may we hold nothing back, recognizing that every good and perfect gift comes from You. Help us to align our priorities with Your will, giving sacrificially, like the wise men, who brought their finest gifts to honor You.
Lord, may we also carry the spirit of the magi into our daily lives, seeking You earnestly and worshipping You boldly. As we grow and strive towards You, help us to spread the joy of Your birth to those around us. Let our lives be a testament to Your goodness and grace, drawing others to the light and warmth of Your love.
In all things, may we find our ultimate joy in You alone, Father. We look forward to the day when we will worship You in person, where the light of Your presence will be our eternal guide.
In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
