A Prayer for Trust and Provision
"Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." - Matthew 6:25-34

Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, hearts open and minds yearning for Your reassurance and guidance. In a world that often grips us with anxiety and uncertainty, we find solace in the words of our Lord Jesus Christ as recorded in the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 6, verses 25 to 34. These verses remind us not to be consumed by our worries concerning the necessities of life—what we shall eat or drink, or how we shall be clothed.
Oh Lord, when the weight of our daily struggles feels heavy upon our shoulders, help us to recognize the truth of what Christ teaches. You tell us in Your holy Word, "Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on." Instill in our hearts the understanding that life is so much more than the physical provisions we seek. It is a precious gift meant for deeper communion with You, our Creator.
Father, as we behold the fowls of the air, let us truly realize their carefree existence, living each day nurtured by Your divine provision. For they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet, Your heavenly majesty feeds them abundantly. Remind us, dear Lord, that we are of far greater value than they. Instill in us the faith to trust that You, who has crafted the universe, knows our needs and desires to meet them in Your perfect timing.
In moments of doubt, when we ponder, "Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?" let us understand that worry solves nothing. Help us to release our worries into Your mighty hands and to embrace the peace that surpasses all understanding. Inspire us to recognize the beauty of the flowers of the field, the lilies that grow without toil or labor. Yet, even in their simple splendor, they display Your glory far beyond anything Solomon donned.
We realize the flowers bloom, though they do not spin, and are clothed in extravagant beauty, supplied by You, the Divine Gardener. This divine provision speaks volumes about Your faithfulness and love towards us. If You take such care in the minutiae of creation, how much more will You care for us? Help us, O ye of little faith, to cast aside our fears about earthly needs and to hold fast to the promise that You will clothe us just as You do the grass of the field.
Oh Lord, guide our thoughts away from what we perceive as lacking in our lives: "What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?" You remind us, Father, that these concerns consume the hearts of those who do not know You. Yet we, as Your dear children, can rest assured that, "Your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things."
Empower us to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, trusting that all these things shall indeed be added unto us. Help us focus on our relationship with You and prioritize Your ways above worldly pursuits. May our lives reflect this kingdom-seeking perspective, illuminating Your love and grace to others around us.
Finally, Lord, as we face each day, remind us to take no thought for tomorrow, for tomorrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Let each worry of the morrow diminish under the glow of Your promises. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. Strengthen us to face today with courage, hope, and faith in Your provision.
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray, trusting in Your faithful care,
Amen.

Matthew 6:25 – 34
Matthew 6:25-34 - "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."
