“Cast Into the Depths of the Sea: A Prayer for Returning Mercy and Subdued Iniquity”
"He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea." - Micah 7:19

Most holy and merciful Father,
I come before Thee with reverence, with trembling, and with hope, because Thy word is faithful and Thy compassions fail not. Thou hast spoken comfort to the contrite, and Thy promise stands sure even when my strength is small and my heart is weary. I anchor my soul today in the testimony of Micah 7:19: “He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.” Lord, I take this word not as a distant saying, but as living truth for my own life, for my household, and for all who call upon Thy name.
O God, I confess that I have wandered in thought, in desire, and in deed. I acknowledge the weight of my transgressions and the stubbornness of my heart when left to itself. I admit that I cannot cleanse myself; I cannot conquer sin by my own will; I cannot repair what I have broken by my own labor. Yet Thou hast declared, “He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us.” Therefore I plead not my worth, but Thy compassion. Turn again unto me, Lord; let not my failures have the final word. Let Thy mercy rise higher than my shame, and let Thy kindness lead me to repentance that is sincere, complete, and lasting.
Father, I ask Thee to have compassion upon us—upon me, upon those I love, and upon all who are burdened by guilt and fear. Look upon the hidden griefs I cannot speak aloud. Look upon the places where I have grown cold, defensive, or double-minded. Look upon the times I have excused what Thou hast called sin. And still, according to Thy promise, have compassion upon us. Let Thy compassion be more than a feeling I admire; let it be a power that restores, a tenderness that lifts, and a mercy that strengthens me to walk uprightly.
Lord, Thy word also declares, “he will subdue our iniquities.” I ask Thee now to do what I cannot do: subdue the iniquity that rises within me. Subdue the sins that return in cycles. Subdue the habits that cling to me. Subdue bitterness, pride, envy, lust, deceit, and unbelief. Subdue every secret compromise and every hidden motive that resists Thy holiness. Break the dominion of sin in my mind, in my body, and in my spirit. Teach my hands to war against temptation and my heart to flee what grieves Thee. Grant me hatred for sin and love for righteousness. Replace my old ways with a steadfast spirit, that obedience may become my delight and holiness my path.
And Lord, with awe and gratitude, I cling to this promise: “and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.” O God, cast my sins away—sins remembered and sins forgotten, sins of ignorance and sins of willfulness, sins I have confessed and sins I have not yet understood. Cast them into the depths of the sea, beyond my reach and beyond the accusations that pursue me. When my conscience condemns me, remind me of Thy word. When the enemy whispers that I am defined by my past, let Thy promise answer with greater authority. Teach me to live as one forgiven: humbled, not hardened; watchful, not despairing; grateful, not careless.
Father, because Thou art compassionate, make me compassionate. Because Thou dost subdue iniquity, subdue the desire in me to judge others harshly. Give me a heart that forgives, as I have received forgiveness. Help me to speak truth with gentleness, to pursue peace without compromise, and to walk in integrity when no one sees. Let the fruit of Thy mercy be evident in my relationships, my choices, my speech, and my thoughts.
Turn again, Lord, and revive me. Have compassion upon us, and heal what is wounded. Subdue our iniquities, and give us victory where we have long been weak. Cast all our sins into the depths of the sea, and teach us to walk forward in newness of life, honoring Thee with reverence and joy.
I rest in Thy promise and I trust in Thy mercy, for Thou hast spoken it: “He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.”
Amen.
