A Prayer for Strength in the Face of Opposition
"Hear, O our God; for we are despised: and turn their reproach upon their own head, and give them for a prey in the land of captivity: And cover not their iniquity, and let not their sin be blotted out from before thee: for they have provoked thee to anger before the builders." - Nehemiah 4:4-5

O Lord God Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, I come before You today to pour out my heart, troubled and burdened by the weight of opposition and scorn we face in this world. Just as Nehemiah cried out in Nehemiah 4:4-5, so do we seek You in our time of need: "Hear, O our God; for we are despised: and turn their reproach upon their own head, and give them for a prey in the land of captivity. And cover not their iniquity, and let not their sin be blotted out from before thee: for they have provoked thee to anger before the builders."
Heavenly Father, we acknowledge that there are times when the road is hard and the journey feels heavy. We see how the forces of darkness conspire against us, whispering lies and casting shadows of doubt and discouragement. May our hearts be steadfast like that of Nehemiah, who refused to waver in fear or despair despite the ridicule of his adversaries.
Lord, as we lift our voices in unity, hear our cries! We are Your people, called by Your name. We are despised, and our efforts often meet with derision. When we step out in faith to do Your work, let us not cower under the weight of mockery or intimidation. Fortify us, O God, with courage and strength.
Let the reproach heaped upon us not be a hindrance, but fuel for our dedication to continue the good work You have set before us. Father, we ask that You turn their reproach upon their own heads. Just as Nehemiah sought justice for the oppression he faced, we too seek Your divine intervention. You are the ultimate judge, O Lord, and we trust in Your righteousness.
In moments when we see opposition mounting, Lord, relieve our hearts from worry. Teach us to walk in Your ways, to be vigilant like Nehemiah and his builders, who worked with one hand while holding their weapons in the other. May we hold fast to the truth that You are our defender and our refuge.
We plead with You, O God, to make the enemies who taunt and challenge our work their own prey. In their schemes against us, let them find the snare they have set for others. For who can stand against You, O Lord? You are stronger than every foe, fiercer than every detractor. It is in Your power alone that we find true security and victory.
As we continue our labor, we recognize that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, powers, and rulers of darkness. We ask that You cover not their iniquity, and let not their sin be blotted out from before You. Some may think they can act without consequence, but we know that You are omniscient, and every injustice lies bare before Your all-seeing eyes.
God, may we be driven not by bitterness towards those who challenge us, but by Your love and purpose. Let us show them the grace that You have shown us, even in the face of their provocations. As Nehemiah understood His mission, let us be renewed in our determination to fulfill the call on our lives.
Tonight, we humbly ask for Your strength, wisdom, and discernment. Empower our hands, guide our hearts, and embolden our minds. For we are builders of Your Kingdom, and we will not be shaken. May our work be completed to the glory of Your name, and may we see victory as we remain rooted in You.
In the name of Jesus Christ, our stronghold and redeemer, we pray. Amen.
