A Prayer for Divine Intercession: Stopping the Plague
"And Aaron returned unto Moses unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and the plague was stayed." - Numbers 16:50

O Sovereign Lord,
As I approach Your throne of grace, I do so with a heart full of reverence and humility. In this sacred space, I reflect on the profound moment captured in the book of Numbers, chapter 16, verse 50, where we read, "And Aaron returned unto Moses unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and the plague was stayed." Lord, this moment is a vivid picture of Your power and mercy, and it stirs within me a hopeful expectation for Your intercession in our lives today.
Father, just as Aaron hurried back to Moses at the entrance of the tabernacle, I too come back to You, seeking Your presence in a time of need. In our modern world, we experience plagues of various kinds—disease, despair, division, and deceit. These are the pestilences that weigh heavy on our souls and our societies. Yet, I remember your promises, Lord, knowing that You are still in control, ever ready to stay the hand of destruction when Your people cry out.
Lord, in moments of uncertainty and fear, we lay our burdens before You. The plague that Aaron saw was a literal affliction from which the Israelites suffered, but so many of us face spiritual, emotional, and physical afflictions today. I plead with You, O God, to look upon our land and see the suffering of Your people. We lift our eyes unto the hills; from whence cometh our help? Our help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth (Psalm 121:1-2).
Mighty Healer, I ask that You intervene in the lives of those affected by various plagues, whether they be in the form of illness, mental distress, or hurt caused by relationships. I pray specifically for the sick, the anxious, and the broken-hearted. Just as You stayed the plague among the Israelites, I ask for Your healing touch to come upon those who are suffering.
As we contemplate Aaron’s role as the high priest, we recognize that he was a mediator, standing between You and the people. Lord, I thank You that we have a greater High Priest in Christ Jesus, who is ever interceding for us. He knows our struggles, our pain, and our fears. I lift up the names of those in need of Your healing right now—(name them). May they experience Your mighty power, even as Aaron did in that moment.
Gracious Father, teach us, like Aaron, to return to the place of worship. Let the door of the tabernacle—the gateway to Your presence—always beckon us to come back to You. When we feel overwhelmed by life’s plagues, help us remember that we can find refuge in You. May we never stray far from the altar where we leave our burdens and receive Your peace.
We are humbled, Lord, that at any moment, a single act, like Aaron’s return, could make all the difference. Empower us to be those who point others towards You—the Great Deliverer. Our world needs a demonstration of Your grace and power, and we are Your vessels. Send us out, strengthened by Your Spirit, to declare Your goodness in the land of the living.
Finally, Lord, I pray for our leaders, that they may be wise and discerning in their decisions, always seeking Your guidance. Protect them from a plague of poor judgment and grant them a heart that seeks justice and truth. May they look to You for wisdom as Aaron did when he returned to Moses.
Thank You, heavenly Father, that You are the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). Give us faith like Aaron, that we may come before You with our prayers, hoping and knowing with certainty that You have the power to stay the plagues in our lives and communities.
In the name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, I pray,
Amen.
