A Prayer for Discernment and Deliverance from the Enemies of the Cross
"For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things." - Philippians 3:18-19

Heavenly Father,
As I come before Your holy throne today, my heart is full of reverence and solemnity. I turn to You with the words of Philippians 3:18-19 echoing in my spirit: "For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things."
Lord, I am reminded that in this world, there are many who choose to walk a path contrary to Your Divine will and purpose. They disregard the sacrifice of the cross and delight in the transient pleasures of life. You have gifted me with the ability to see through the deception that surrounds me. I ask that You sharpen my discernment so that I may recognize those who may draw me away from the truth of Your Gospel.
I pray for those who find themselves ensnared in a life that treats the cross lightly, who elevate their earthly desires above the richness of Your eternal promise. I feel a deep sorrow, much like that of the Apostle Paul, as I weep for their souls, caught in a cycle of destruction. Dear Lord, please reach out to these individuals who may not even recognize their spiritual peril. Bring them to the knowledge of You, and let Your Holy Spirit convict their hearts. Open their eyes, Lord, to the futility of seeking glory in shame and exalting their own appetites above the worship due to You.
Father, I take this moment to ask for forgiveness for any time I have allowed earthly desires to cloud my vision or lead me astray. Help me to keep my focus on Christ, who endured the cross for the sake of my redemption. May my spirit continually long for the things that are above, not those that are below, and let my life reflect the values of Your Kingdom.
As I witness the lure of earthly things that tries to sway my heart, keep my thoughts anchored on You. Help me to resist the temptations that arise when the flesh calls out with desires that are contrary to Your Word. Let not my belly be my god, but let me find sustenance in Your presence, knowing that Your grace is sufficient for all my needs.
Lord Jesus, I recognize that we live in a world full of distractions, enticing us towards what is seen and felt, but I pray for strength to remain steadfast in faith. May I gather courage from Your sacrifice, understanding that the suffering of this present time cannot compare to the glory which shall be revealed to us.
In this journey of faith, I seek to encourage and uplift those around me who may be struggling, just as I am. May my words reflect Your truth and love, and may my actions reveal the light of Christ in a darkened world. Help me to be a beacon of hope, leading others back to You, away from the destructive paths they may be treading.
Lord, remind me often of the eternal perspective—a perspective that sees beyond the immediate pleasures and temptations of this earthly life. Foster within me a heart that desires to reach others with compassion, allowing my tears for the lost to spur me into action.
In conclusion, dear Jesus, I thank You for the cross and the transformative power it holds. I pray that I—and all who seek You—will always find our identity in You, not in the deceitful pulls of this world. May we embrace the fullness of life in You, diligently seeking the things above where Christ is, seated at Your right hand. Help me to walk faithfully, reflecting Your love in every step I take, and to be ever vigilant in prayer against the snares of the enemy.
In Your precious name, I pray,
Amen.
