A Prayer for Diligence and Generosity
"Verse: 25 The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour. Verse: 26 He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not." - Proverbs 21:25-26

Heavenly Father,
As I come before You today, I reflect upon the wisdom found in Proverbs 21:25-26: "The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour. He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not." Lord, I seek Your guidance and strength to live a life that honors this wisdom.
Father, I acknowledge that laziness can easily creep into our lives. In our modern world filled with distractions and temptations, it is all too easy to become complacent and lose sight of our responsibilities. I ask for Your help to combat the tendency to be slothful. May I not be enticed by the illusions of ease and comfort, but instead be reminded that true fulfillment comes through hard work and dedication. Help me to embrace the labor that You have set before me, knowing that it is a means to glorify You and to build a life that reflects Your character.
Lord, I declare that I do not want my desires to lead to destruction. I do not want to be like the slothful who let their hands refuse to labor; rather, I desire to be diligent, faithful, and industrious in all that I do. Please cultivate in my heart a spirit of perseverance and steadfastness. Instill in me the understanding that every task, no matter how small, carries significance when done for Your glory.
As I labor, I also ask for the wisdom to discern between what is necessary and what is frivolous. Guard my heart against greed and a covetous spirit. Your Word is clear that "the slothful killeth him" through discontentment and a lack of action. Let me not fall into this trap of endless desire without effort. Help me to channel my energies towards productive endeavors that uplift not only myself but those around me.
Father, I also want to reflect on the second part of this passage. "The righteous giveth and spareth not." Teach me the value of generosity. Let my heart overflow with kindness and compassion, that I might share the blessings You have generously bestowed upon me. Help me to recognize the needs of others even as I toil in my own pursuits. It is so easy to get caught up in my own world, but let me not ignore the calling to help those who are struggling, to give freely, and to support those in need.
O Lord, may my acts of giving not be motivated by a desire for recognition or a sense of obligation. Instead, let my generosity spring from a heart that is tuned to Your frequency of love and sacrifice. Just as You have given abundantly and without reservation, may I also give abundantly, even when it requires sacrifice on my part. Nourish my soul with the understanding that as I give, I become more like You, reflecting the righteousness that Your Word instructs us to pursue.
As I navigate the responsibilities and desires of this life, I pray for the balance of diligence and generosity to guide my actions. May I work hard, not just for my gain but for the benefit of others, and may my heart remain generous, always looking for opportunities to help, encourage, and uplift those around me.
Thank You, Lord, for Your wisdom in Scripture. Help me to apply it daily in my life, to embody the principles of hard work and selfless giving. May my life be a testament to Your goodness, and may I always strive to live a life that honors Your Word.
In Jesus' name, I pray,
Amen.
