Heavenly Father,

We come before You today with humble hearts, seeking Your guidance and wisdom. Lord, as we reflect on the profound words of Proverbs 23:16, which state, "Yea, my reins shall rejoice, when thy lips speak right things," we recognize the deep connection between our speech and our innermost being. In this moment of prayer, we ask that You would open our hearts and minds to truly understand the significance of speaking right things and how it brings joy to our spirit and rejoicing to our reins.

Father, we thank You for the gift of communication, the ability to express our thoughts, feelings, and ideas through our words. We acknowledge that every word we speak has the power to build up or tear down, to encourage or discourage, to bring life or death. Help us, Lord, to choose our words wisely. Let them reflect the love and truth that You embody. May our conversations be filled with grace, kindness, and compassion, always aiming to uplift those around us.

In a world where negativity and harshness can often overwhelm, we pray for Your strength to speak right things. Teach us to filter our thoughts through Your Word before they take form on our lips. Help us to remember the impact of our words on both ourselves and others. Guide us in our relationships, that we may always speak truthfully and in love, nurturing unity and understanding within our families, workplaces, and communities.

Lord, we understand that our speech is a reflection of our inner state. As we strive to speak right things, may our hearts be filled with Your joy and peace. Cleanse us from any bitterness, anger, or resentment that may linger within us. Help us to forgive those who may have wronged us, for we know that holding onto grudges only breeds negativity in our hearts and consequently leads us to speak ill. Fill our souls with Your Spirit, so that our words may flow from a heart that is rejuvenated and made whole by Your grace.

Remind us of the importance of wisdom in our speech. Just as the Proverb highlights the joy that comes from speaking right things, let that joy resonate within us, causing our reins — that is, our innermost being — to rejoice. May our words be seasoned with salt, making them palatable and refreshing to those who hear them. Let us be vessels of Your message, sharing the good news of Your love and salvation through our daily interactions.

In moments where we may feel tempted to engage in gossip, slander, or harsh criticisms, we pray for the discernment to walk away and to remain steadfast in Your truth.
